MC Monday

    MC Monday

    Um, yeah.  It's Monday.

    I'm feeling pretty mindless.

    That is all.

The light shut off on my car this morning on my way to my client's house. Either way though, I am still getting it checked out, so here I am sitting at the car dealership. I have no idea what's taking so long. I came in about an hour and twenty minutes ago. The guy who took it in knows I am waiting, has walked around a bit, and definitely seen me here. He said when they took that if the light wasn't on anymore, he wasn't sure they would even be able to tell anything about why it was on. He was telling me the price of it, which it shouldn't be anything because I have a warranty, but apparently not for much longer (which is yet another reason to get rid of it, because I doubt that light will stop coming on every few months). Anyway, he said basically, if they didn't find anything, and it wasn't covered, he would only just charge me a half hour of labor, rather than the $99.95 diagnostic fee. If he was only going to charge me for a half hour of labor, why it was been over an hour. I'd like to not cancel on my client this morning, but I'm not sure. I have about another hour and a half though before I would do that. I definitely not cancelling on the one this afternoon. They should be able to have it done by 2. If not, I swear I will steal my own car from this place again.

Ummm, they can run a diagnostic by hooking up the computer to the car and that takes just minutes.  Unless of course your jeep is so old it doesn't have a computer system?  I doubt it, would have to be REALLY old for that to be the case.

Geeze, you can even have that done at most of the big auto parts stores.

Rainy cold weekend here.  I wasn't coming down with a real illness, turned out to be that girl thing.  I did resist the urge on Sunday to bake brownies and eat them all.  Oh hormones, why dost thou affect me so?

Brilliant Michigan people in nearby areas fell through ice when trying to ice fish over the weekend.  What part of 42 degrees and rain makes anyone think it is safe enough to go out onto the lakes/bays in order to fish?

I was drunk-dialed at work on Friday afternoon.  I called a few vendors to request tax i.d. numbers for 1099s on Wednesday last week.  Friday I think one of them called, totally wasted, kept asking why I called, though I could barely understand him and had no clue who he was.  He also said he was sorry, that he'd been celebrating his birthday.  Dude, for one, I can't understand you, and if you are this hammered at 4:00p on a Friday, you've got bigger problems than I want to deal with.  I just hope to god when he is plowing our parking lots, he refrains from consuming alcohol.

I have to get my tetanus shot today. Boo. I do not like needles in any shape or form.

    That is all.

I think I'm more 'numb' than anything this morning -- David worked ALL weekend (10 hour days both days) but wanted to DO something this weekend so we went to Avatar last night.  Callie is a big wuss and HATES "IMAX" 3D stuff (gives me a migraine) so that was the only showing anyway in 2D.

Long movie, so we ate at like 11:45 and by the time I got all my stuff together at home I didn't get to bed til 2:30.

ugh -- I feel like I'm swimming hard thru oatmeal this morning.

Good movie tho -- better than we both thot it would be.

Tina, your will power is amazing.   lol

Kim, sorry you have to have a tetanus shot.  Shots don't bother me but I know lots of people hate them.  Sing loudly while getting the shot.  They might think you're nuts but you can't be scared and sing at the same time. lol

Beautiful day here.  Too bad I'm at work.  I'm in a better mood than yesterday but since I was pretty grumpy that's not hard to beat.  We let a guy go on Friday and the new guy started this morning.  The guy we let go took it well.  I feel bad for him but he just wasn't ever going to cut it and he was actually relieved, I think.  He told me he hasn't been sleeping for the last two months.  Dude, get to the doctor. He has three kids and he's fifty years old with a wife who doesn't work.  :(

Callie - lots of people cannot tolerate 3D! I can, but toward the end of Avatar in 3D even my eyes started to feel wonky.

I'm tired. I had a massive, out of nowhere, migraine last night. Migraines incapacitate me for the rest of the night. I was in bed by 7pm, but due to the migraine, nausea and hot/cold chills I don't think I actually slept at all. At least, this was my first migraine in quite awhile. I don't get them regularly like I used to (stress related ones).

The owner of my company is meeting with a bigger "local" competitor and I'm not sure how to feel about this. No one knows why he's meeting with them, but I know for a fact it's not to buy them out! It must be something if he told us to "dress professionally" (typically our office is very casual; jeans and t-shirts casual since we dont' meet with the public or clients in our office - generally) It might just be talks - who knows. I'm hoping that however it goes, it doesn't mean that we are bought out and the company is moving further south b/c if that happens, I won't be able to follow unless allowed to telecommute from home. I'm already at my limit for commuting. And, I'm already well aware there are no jobs in this area, b/c I've been quietly keeping my eyes open and resume circulated just in case something better comes along....

We are in Palm Springs, CA  this week visiting my parents (they come here for the winter)...yeah, I am loving this Monday.  I am at Panera Bread watching the sun rise over the mountains.  We are heading out to Temecula (sp?) today which should be fun as long as Riley doesn't have any kind of melt down.

The plane ride here was interesting to say the least.  A note to the two tight wads in front of us on the plane, our kid isn't cyring, screaming, kicking your seat, pulling on the back of your seat, so stop turning around and giving us a dirty look any time she speaks.  GET A LIFE.

I am at Panera since I had to send some stuff to work this am and my Dad's Wifi isn't working, that's OK.  Riley was up anyway and I left her snuggling with her Nana watching TV.

Well, gotta go and get breakfast for everyone, I love their sundried tomato cream cheese...yummy!!

Callie, quit wallowing in that oatmeal right now!

You are WOMAN.  Walk on the danged stuff!

My son is a total wuss.  I want a bookcase for my b'day.  I don't want a bookcase made of compressed saw dust.  I want one made from WOOD.  And, I have the specs, measurements, etc.  I want him to BUILD me a bookcase??  With WHAT tools??  Ummm, gee, we have a skill saw, a power sander, a drill.......granted we have really NICE tools still in storage but......I figure that if the Egyptians could build pyramids without cranes, jack hammers and the like, a simple bookcase does NOT require Bob Villas workshop.  Sigh.  I may be building my OWN bookcase for my b'day........

    • Gold Top Dog

I'd build ya one Glenda, but you're too far away to ship it now.  LOL

We are having a blizzard.  Yesterday it rained, and snowed, and rained again.  Since last night we have gotten about a foot of snow, which settled nicely on the sheet of ice the rain left behind.  Apparently we have yet to get the worst of it though.  The Peg is getting  a massive blizzard right now, which came from Sask, so I'd imagine it will be passing through here in a few hours.  I'm looking for candles now, and I'm gonna heat my house right up this afternoon(with the furnace, not the candles) because if the hydro goes out, the furnace won't run.  I doubt it will be that bad though.  The snow is heavy enough that its knocked my internet out a few times already.

Oh and the dogs got into my garbage today.  I would have been mad, except that a) I'm smart enough to know it was my fault for leaving them in the porch with an open bag of kitchen garbage, and b) as I was picking it up, I noticed Kale's school pics that must have been under the pile of stuff I threw out off the desk yesterday.  I can't believe I threw my son's school pics out.  Luckily they are perfectly fine and I'm sure this is the one and only time I'm happy my dogs got in the garbage.

so stop turning around and giving us a dirty look any time she speaks.

I'm a little too confrontational in situations like that.  I would ask them if the needed something.  Good for Riley for being a good flight passenger.  Sometimes *I* want to kick the seat in front of me... usually for reclining into my lap.

Don't have much to say today.  Kinda confused about Kim keeping Zeeva.
