This came up when I handed in the 'report' for Jessica's home visit. There was a question on there that said "Would you feel comfortable leaving your personal dogs with them?" "Explain why or why not."
I wrote N/A there.
So the lady I handed it in to looked it over and then asked me that question. I told her, it doesn't apply to me. She then *explained* the question to me further. I explained back.. I'm different and very particular. It does NOT apply to me.
DD or DS#2 take care of the dogs at home when I'm out. More often DD if I'm out for long. My mom has watched Kali and/or Astra when I've had to be away for long and my kids aren't available. Sandy (who owns Brandon, who is Brianna's littermate) has watched Astra, Brianna and Tina one time when they were younger and needed a sitter. Kali, at that time, was boarded at the vet's and I really wasn't happy with that.
Rescue lady said.. what if there was an emergency and you had to go, and your family wasn't available, would you be comfortable leaving your dogs with this family. My reply.. then I wouldn't go. She really couldn't wrap her mind around it, and I guess I can understand that...
TBH, for DD wedding in May, (we'll be gone maybe 12 hours) I'm already figuring.. Astra and Brianna to Sandy's. Kali and Tina can stay home by themselves. I can leave food and water down for them and they won't have a problem. My trainer can watch the new pup since she'll be super dog friendly. DD wants Adonis to be at her wedding, so no worries there.
I'm pretty sure I'm way outside the norm when it comes to this. (Yes, I was the same way after a while when it came to the kids)
But am I outside the norm in this crowd? So, how about it? Any of you as particular as I am? I guess it helps that 'family emergency' people just don't really exist for me at the moment. Mom lives nearby and my kids live with me...
