Mindless Christmas Eve

I know you didn't ask for the recipe but I don't worry about little details like that. lol

LOL - thank you for sharing the family secret recipe with me. Now I'm even hungrier though. Honestly, it sounds delicious.

I've been grazing on this or that for most of the day. I'm the type that really needs a full meal to be satisfied though, so I feel like I've been hungry all day. I hope dinner is served early at FIL's tonight.

I'm going to try find something to wear that allows me to keep the neck wrap on. It's still giving off a good amount of heat 5 hours after I put it on and I'm learning to like the feeling.

OK, ELEVEN stockings have been stuffed.  Six for dogs, three for cats and 2 for my two footed family members.  Whew.

We're going to a Catholic church tonight.  The Methodist service was just wayyyy too early.  So, a little glass of wine is a good thing.  I won't swallow the communion wine.  Oppps, forgot, non-Catholics aren't supposed to take Communiuon.  Oh well.  In my faith Communion is an affirmation of faith, not a reward for being perfect.........

Funny story.....our very first Christmas together DH and I went with his folks for midnight mass.  REAL midnight!  HIGH mass, in the Cathederial, WITH in bishop!  Yikes.  How's that for my first time in a Catholic Church?  Future FIL actually encouraged me to take Communion......

I just talked to the late DH's neice in Albuquerque and she's making the traditional Mexican Christmas Eve goodies ... homemade tamales and posole.  Posole is an amazing soup with hominy, shredded pork and chiles.  My hands are freezing and I'd give my right arm for a big mug of posole right now. Maybe I can get her to come for a visit and make some. Smile Merry Christmas, everyone!!

I'm not sure I've ever had Pisole, but sounds like something I'd love. Growing up in So. Cal., we always had homemade tamales though and I truly miss those. Merry Christmas Joyce!

Wow! Kudos to you for that! All the people we take to Catholic mass the first time walk out and shake their heads. What did you think of the incense they lit? (at least at my church they do really big stinky incense at midnight. I was coughing and sneezing the whole time!)  The real kicker would have been if it was entirely in Latin.

Indifferent  I slept most of the day away and I'm still tired I get like this everyone once in awhile my body will feel nervously and I just feel so tired that I sleep away the day.  I still got wrapping to do better get to it.

How about all of that (except midnight) but in LATIN!  We were brought up mostly Catholic, so Mass was nothing, but all in Latin.. er, that was tough!  Merry Christmas again everyone!  Back to my alcoholic coffee drink and wrapping presents.

Hey, Happy Holiday everyone, I know I've been absent, but I've always loved this forum!!

Well, we are talking 27 year ago.....part of the mass WAS in Latin!  Didn't make much difference since I didn't know what the heck was going on anyway!  FIL couldn't quit apologizing for it being sooooo long!

At the moment, the critter stockings are hanging on hangers in my closet.  I figured that those we'd bring out at the right moment......

    Merry Christmas everyone!

LOL, I went to Catholic school until I was in 5th grade. Oh, the incense and Communion...I remember my First Communion and Reconciliation (what true sins does a 2nd grader have?) My family and I tend to not label ourselves as Catholic, however, because of the rule that women cannot be priests. Until that changes, I won't give money to the Catholic Church or feel right in identifying myself as one.

Anyway...I do think that Mass needs to be "updated" and made more appealing to younger people. They sing the same songs and have had the same format for SO long. They've gotta work on keeping an individual's attention. Glenda, did you by any chance sing "All the Ends of the Earth"? LOL, I swear we sang that so many times I'm never going to forget the melody.

    I've been busy all day!

I took the dogs to the dog wash this morning, because it's lots faster to bathe them there than it is at home.  They have little private rooms with a tub, & dryer for you to work in.  Occassionally, the employees stop by to see if you need any help.  Because of this, I put the "Do Not Disturb" sign out & locked the door.  I didn't want anyone walking in, to meet Brutus head on, while I was busy bathing someone else. Tongue Tied  One of the employees stopped by, & unlocked the door to stick his head in to check on us.  Luckily, Bru was in the tub at the moment.  I'm not sure how, seeing that there were 8 dogs in the little room, opening the door was a good idea.  I'm fairly certain that the guy peed his pants when he was met by a smiling Bevo.

After bath time, we took Bevo & Shooter to the nursing home for a quick visit, & gift delivery.  Shooter lives to drive me crazy, & I am almost always annoyed with him, but he's such a great little dog.  He has everyone at the nursing home wrapped around his little paw, & he takes everything in stride.  Today, he was bumped by a walker.  He just looked to see what was going on, & then calmly moved out of the way.  Even though he's trying to climb my Christmas tree right now, I love the little monster.

We went to the early "midnight mass."  It was nice.  Afterwards, we went out for hot cocoa, & drove around to look at Christmas lights.  The kids seem happy, & in the holiday spirit.  They are both very excited about tomorrow.

I got news this evening that the guy who stalked me over the summer, killed himself yesterday.  I have mixed emotions about his death.  I feel terrible for his family, but I can't say that I'm not a little relieved that I won't have to worry about him in the future.

Well, Merry Christmas everyone!  It's official now at least where we are.

This morning I had to go into work for awhile.  We have a pot luck thing every year on Christmas Eve but we close early.  It was like a sponge sucked the Christmas right out of me as soon as I got there.  I was the only one who had work to do.  The girl that works nights with me had nothing to do all day.  She was shopping online, eating, talking on her cell, etc.   Do you think she offered to help me?  Nope.  I could of made her help me since I'm her supervisor.  But, I didn't want to get into anything with her on Christmas Eve.  I will be discussing with her next week though for sure.  AND, I'll be putting in for next year off.  I've worked it my first four years there, let someone else do it now.  I've been sick all week too. People just continue to amaze me with how selfish they can be.  I've gone to bat for her many times too when she's gone thru difficult personal times and management was getting on her.

I took Willow on the snow covered trail today.  It was all I could do to keep her from zooming.  She loves running thru snow.  And, I love seeing it.  But, last year she ended up limping and having trouble walking.  So, this year I won't let her.  But, she tries to sneak it in.

DH and I wrapped all the gifts we are bringing to my moms tomorrow.  We staying home tonight and opened our gifts to each other.  We didn't go crazy this year because we are saving for some home improvement things we want to do in the spring.  He did buy a huge grab bag full of treats and stuff for all the pets.  I thought that was just awesome.

I went to Catholic school thru 8th grade. The school was right across the street from the church and we'd all march over on Thursdays for confession. I can remember waiting my turn and trying to think of something to confess. I wasn't a perfect kid but I didn't have a bunch of sins to confess every week. I'd go in and say stuff like "I was mean to my sister" cause it was all I could think of.

Amanda - I'm not sure what to say about your stalker taking his own life. It is sad for his family but then again, maybe not so much.

I had a nice dinner at FIL's house but it lasted much longer than I expected and now it's late and I'm wide awake. I wanted to drink some wine there but didn't want to take a chance of drinking and driving. Food was really good though and the gifts we got were all very nice.
