Woke up at 4am because Gracie had to go out.  Woke up at 5:10am in the middle of a dream where I thought it was after 7am, which means I would be late for the train to work (meanwhile, I was getting up at 5:30 anyway so I could get to work EARLY... very thankful to realize it was still a dream.)

Got up at 5:40, got ready for work, thankful I had prepped the coffee the night before, poured two travel mugs - one in my bag, one to carry, left early, but not quite early enough to catch one train I wanted, so I mailed some Christmas cards and took the next train.  Put my bag down and realized there was a puddle.  Further investigation reveals my coffee in my backpack had leaked, soaked the bag, which soaked my wool dryclean-only jacket across the backside, which soaked through to my jeans and shirt.  Luckily the remainder of my Christmas cards inside the bag stayed dry in their box, but I had to carry the dripping bag away from my body, apart from my wet jacket apart from the dry box of cards, plus two mugs of coffee... for twice the distance as usual because the bus wasn't running that early so I had to walk the full mile from train to office.  YAY ME!  My office stinks like coffee.  I refused to drink any of my coffee, out of spite, for the first two hours I was here.

That cracked me up but I'd feel the exact same way. Sorry for the crummy start to the day but I'm guessing things can only get better from here, right?Smile

I want a charlie brown Christmas tree but I want the one with Linus' blanket they have ones with the blanket and ones without and of course can only find the one without the blanket.

I got the one with the Linus blanket. I found it at Meijers, but I think Meijers is an only Michigan store.

The coffee needed a time-out... or I did.  Not sure.  I got all my griping out on my coworker today (irritated with sister, etc, etc), so I won't bother you folks.  Geez, do I have anything else worth talking about? lol

Coworker adopted a rescued puppy - found in the desert in New Mexico last week, brought up to a rescue here in CO.  Very happy for her.  Gave her a cute name, Mora, which means blackberry in Spanish.  SOOO cute for a cute black dog!  Pup had a tape worm, though, so a good vet visit and some parasite killing drugs yesterday.  Poor thing is violently car-sick, though.  Coworker/friend says she looks like she's possessed/Exorcist-like, peuking everywhere.  Poor Mora.

I'm pretty sure Meijer is also in Ohio, but don't know where else.

Going home for lunch there was a little dog, maybe Chi/Doxie mix running in the street.  Then it would stop in the middle, looking back & forth, very confused.  It was very overweight and looked older.  I stopped, tried to call it to me, wouldn't come.  I pulled over, got out and knelt down, still it wouldn't come.  The cars were trying to stop for it, but it kept running away.  I hope it's okay.

..."its just one fun thing after another!!!"

That line is the highlight of my day!  Big Smile  I think being a grandma must be the best thing in the world at Christmas. :)

Paige, if my mom was alive and I had punished my coffee by not drinking it because it spilled itself all over my bag and coat.  Whew, I'm tired from that long semi sentence. lol  Anyway, she would have said "you cut off your nose to spite your face".   She liked to make you feel good about stuff like that, not.  Sorry you had such a crummy start to your day.

I'm in a crappy mood for various reasons.  I am trying to find just the right dog bed for Ruger but have left it a little late and now will have to patronize Petsmart.  I didn't expect my coworker to get my dogs gifts since we agreed not to this year.  Imagine my surprise when he strolled in with an armful of doggy goodies.  I've been to Target and a small boutique type shop but all their beds are too small for Ru.

edited to correct a punctuation since now the grammar police are watching......lol  Please DON'T let me know if I missed any.

I keep looking at beds for my dogs too.  Ever since Onyx' pizza box incedent anyway.  (In case I forgot to mention it, I had a pizza box that kept finding its way out of the recycling box one week and I couldn't figure out why, till I watched Onny tug it out, lay it on the floor and make herself comfy on it one night.  I felt so bad throwing it away on her)  But I just cant justify buying a $60 - 80 bed for each dog, that may or may not be used and/or eaten.  I've decided to make them beds again.  They had some when they were younger, but they killed them and never got new ones.  I keep looking at the tiny little toy dog beds and thinking, Onyx would use that!  She would totally curl herself into her tiny husky swirl and stuff herself into that bed.  She'd probably look like a fuzzy mushroom, but she'd try.  She has layed spun around and made herself comfy on dishclothes that she's stolen from the drying rack, and one sided socks a certain little boy has left laying around.  She's so hard done by.

Wow, that's fast and especially for this time of year. Congratulations! I hope you hear from all of them and can pick the one you like the best.

Ugh. I feel like carp. Willa and I went to visit my sister and her family in MN this weekend. Of course, her kids were sick. Sad And of course, now Willa and I are sick. Headache, congestion, sore throat, earaches. I hate being sick!

Anyone know of any pregnancy-safe sore throat remedies? I tried honey, which tasted yummy but did nothing for my throat. Also gargling with salt water, which tasted gross and only helped for about 10 seconds. I already have a doc appt scheduled for tomorrow so I'll ask my OB. One benefit to going every two weeks now, I guess.

WooHoo!  Fingers, toes and paws all crossed for you!

Poor Onyx, sleeping in a pizza box. Probably smelled good too. lol I was really wondering where you were going with that. lol

Smear you feet with Vicks Vaporub and put socks on before bed...dunno why, but it works.

     Thanks, everyone!!

Janice, my grandfather always swore by a cup of hot water with a lot of lemon juice AND honey.

Personally I am a huge, huge fan of peppermint tea (the stronger, the better). Sniff it, too, and it helps the nose.

BF's little brother swears by spicy ginger tea for a really sore throat.

    Hope you feel better soon!

Paige, I'm still laughing about you abstaining from coffee out of spite. That is soooooo something I would do.

Cita, congratulations!!!!  That's fantastic!!  I lift my cup of coffee (who is now out of time-out, but being punished with creamer, nonetheless) in congratulatory cheers.

Jan, I have no idea if there's caffeine or other baddies for pregnancy, but Traditional Medicinals makes a tea called Throat Coat that people swear by.  Hope you feel better...

Exchange overheard in the office next to mine just now.  Sarah - 30-something smartass funny girl.  Sal - 40-something silly and sweet forklift driver....

Sal, upon entering the office area: "What's that smell?!"

    Sarah: "Your mom!"

Sal: "Well, she smells good for being dead."

    ------Silence-------

Sarah: "Um, really?  Are you saying that to be funny, or make me feel bad because your mom is really dead?"

    Sal:  "Both, she's really dead."
