Water on walks

I usually try to take my boys on at least a 2.5-3 mile walk every day. Now that it's getting hot--yes, it actually stopped raining in WA!--this is too far to go without giving them some water along the way. I bought a water bottle holder that you clip on your pants, but it's too heavy and drags down my pants--haha! Since I'm holding two leashes, I can't hold a water bottle as well. Is there anything on the market that would make a good, portable way to bring water along on the walks?

You can buy a camel pack that the dog wears. Make him carry his own water!

That's an awesome idea! I've seen those, but I never really thougth about using them on our walks. I'll bet they're expensive, though.

They have great backpacks at rei.com they really are nice. Reasonably priced too.

They make straps that go around your neck that have a rubber 'band' that fits around the neck of the bottle -- more comfortable to wear it like a sling across your chest -- but cheap and effective. They have those rubber-lined fold-up bowls.

I went to a nice looking old ladies (total stranger) house about midway from us. Offered to pay her to let me leave a bowl there and asked if I could filler up so Tyler could have a drink on hot days. She said her "payment" would have to be letting her pet and love on Tyler - what a sweet woman. She now buys biscuits to keep under the sink for my boy. We now have a new friend. What a deal!

I think it's definitely too far to go with no water. What I use, is a plastic bag! You know, like a grocery bag? I just roll down the sides, pour in the water and hold it up for him to drink out of. It surprising works GREAT and it fits in my pocket!

I don't know I keep water and a bowl in the car. Since I take mine too the park too walk them. So when we stop I just go back to the car and give them some.
