Dogs on the sofa??? Roscoe's Dad has finally caved!!

Okay, you all know I totally caved on the dogs on the sofa thing (it was never a very firm stance in the first place).  But Roscoe has to have his blankie and only with permission. And it's only ever been me giving him permission. My husband has remained firmly ANTI dogs on the couch... until this morning!

Generally, Roscoe gets told to "go to bed" (in his crate) and we put up all the couch cushions so he doesn't get tempted to climb up. This morning my husband got up early and Roscoe had put back one of the cushions and was snoozing on the couch!

When I got up, Roscoe was happily snoring on his blanket in the sun on the couch. Stunned, I asked DH, "Did you let Roscoe on the couch?!?"  He said sheepishly, "Yeah, he was already on it when I got up. He looked so comfy that I couldn't make him get off for good."

Same thing happened here sorta... We always tried to have Zoe start sleeping on her bed on the floor, but in the middle of the night she would join us in bed.  We didn't mind.  Well, then one night when bedtime came, Zoe was laying against him with her head in his armpit in a cute position and he said she looks too cute to make her move.  So, I said forget it, I don't mind her on the bed, he did, so now she just stays on the bed :).

When we brought home two german shepherd pups I said "no BIG dogs on the bed".  I think that lasted 3 days.  I dozed off on the sofa last nite and when I got up to go to bed, Tyler was in my place....all stretched out and comfy.  I found a different spot, but then of course Sheba needed to be up there too.  Between DH snoring and the two big babies, I would have been better off staying on the sofa......

heheheheheh, go Roscoe!  You're slowly training your family.  It's tough to do but with patience you can train your folks to let you do just about anything. ~L~

I knew DH would come around! Way to work it, Roscoe!

I never let my dogs on the sofa my whole life until I got my little dog. She's a Pom-like thing and, being bred for laps, she'd always want to sit on your lap, of course. Therefore, in fairness they all get the couch now. Needless to say, there is sometimes no place to sit!

Well played Roscoe!  We never even tried to keep Slicky off the sofa or the bed.  We figured - why set ourselves up for failure?  we have enough dog training things to fail at.
