Jackie, I hope that the knee feels better very quickly.
Joyce, tell me more about these pumpkin bars w/buttercream icing.
We had a such a great day with family & friends.
Food wise, everything turned out very nicely. The weather was great, so everyone could hang out in the house or out in the yard, which was nice since it was really crowded. We ended up with 52 people here for dinner, & for the most part everyone was great. I could have done without one of my cousins & her 5 monster children, but otherwise, everything was great.
The dogs did so well with all of the people. I knew that I could send Chyna, Bevo, Brinxx, Shooter, & Schatzi to their beds, & not have to worry about them causing problems. I was a little concerned about Angel remembering to stay in her bed, & I was really worried about how Brutus would handle the crowd. They both did great. They were happy to go outside & play with the kids for a while, then they came back inside, & curled up on their beds, as asked. DH smoked a duck for them as a reward for their good behavior.
DS #2 made me start crying at dinner. Our family has always had a kid's table, & an adult's table. My grandfather, who passed away over the summer, would always sit at the head of the kid's table for dinner. It was his "thing."
As we were about to begin eating, DS tells one of his cousins to move from her seat at the head of the table. I walked over to make sure that there wasn't a problem, as DS pulls out a little picture of my grandpa, his great grandpa, sits it at the head of the table, & tells his cousin "you know that's Pa's spot." I spent the next fifteen minutes crying in the bathroom. It was very sweet.
