I am thankful for much and I will admit that the sunshine that just emerged for the first time in days (again, ugh) is very, very appreciated.  DH is grumpy bah humbug must be 'cause he British and isn't in the full spirit of things LOL

We went for a LONG walk and 8 people asked me where my dog was, so yea I'm the dog lady.

Jackie I hope your knee doesn't bother you too much, speeding healing!

I am thankful for this wonderful extended family - may you all take a moment to be thankful in the madness of the holiday.

Oh and if you watch the dog show it's in the paper here that the #1 doberman CJ is from here - go CJ!

The turkey is thawed!!  Combination of a small turkey, a sink full of cold water and me cussing myself and turning the air blue!!

    That is all.

I'm just super thankful for all the wonderful friends I have on here -- but mostly for my wonderful husband, David and for Billy, Luna, Tinkerbell and Kee Shu and the wonderful times we have.

Kee is so close to trotting over the Bridge that we didn't go away this year.

Big news in this household -- David finally installed the digital box on the TV and for the first time in ... hmm, maybe 2 years?  we had the TV on and I watched the parade!!  whooo hooo!!!

WAs talking to my best friend last night -- I just don't "multi-task" well and when I watch TV that's what I do.  period ... so I generally just don't feel like I have TIME to watch TV cos there's too much else in this life to do.  But hey -- at least we have a tv that *works* now LOL (I didn't realize until about a month ago that with the new digital conversion thingy that our almost-brand-new-tv was worthless LOL).

My Thanksgiving prep is done since there's a 9 X 13 pan of pumpkin bars w/buttercream icing sitting on the counter and the coffee is hot.

Jackie, sorry about your knee. Hope it's feeling better soon.

Ron, thanks for posting that recipe.  I have a special weakness for anything with cranberries in it.

I think maybe I'll go and get the outside Christmas decorations up.  Have a HAPPY TURKEY DAY everyone!!!

Happy Thanksgiving for all those celebrating it today!  I wish I was having a turkey dinner - but instead I made chili this afternoon.  I have no idea how it will turn out, I haven't made chili for like a year.  I'm avoiding tasting it.

I have been SCRUBING my basement today.  Ugh!  What a lot of work.  I still have to scrub the washroom down there.  It hasn't been used in a few months, we were renovating the basement, but that's done and all the crap ended up in the washroom.  I pulled all of that out of there today, and now it needs to be cleaned for the Christmas season, I don't see us having time to finish re-doing the washroom before Christmas.

I'm going to shower before FH and our friend come home from work.

Erica - Just for the heck of it I looked up the 563 area code - it's in Iowa.  Ring any bells?

DH caved (gotta love him!) and we went hiking with the dogs.  Gorgeous day even though clouds threatened and we had a good hike.  Kes did decent on recalls and Z got t stretch her legs after a week with fairly limited exercise due to her staples.  Fun was had by all.

Turkey is in the oven, so only about 2 hours before we eat! Yay!

I figured it out. It was an old skating buddy- she got a new number... it took her a while to respond to my 'who the heck is this' message -so it was bothering me! haha

I had a wonderful 'post turkey siesta'.

Oh what I wouldn't have paid to be a fly on the wall today!  This morning before I left, I accidently knocked an umbrella down off the coat rack, but I was in a rush, so I didn't bother to pick it up.

Well somebody thought they'd chew the handle and in the process must have hit the button and popped the automatic umbrella open.  The picture in my mind is absolutely hilarious.  I'll have to check later to see who is afraid of the umbrella, and maybe figure out who chewed up the handle...

I love stuffing... I think that's enough said right there about me and thanksgiving. I have had three or four bowls of it already, and could go for another one.

I am also debating whether this would be gross or good, sauteed onions with pineapples. I think this should have ham in it, but I don't eat ham.

Jackie, I hope that the knee feels better very quickly.

Joyce, tell me more about these pumpkin bars w/buttercream icing.

We had a such a great day with family & friends.

Food wise, everything turned out very nicely. The weather was great, so everyone could hang out in the house or out in the yard, which was nice since it was really crowded. We ended up with 52 people here for dinner, & for the most part everyone was great. I could have done without one of my cousins & her 5 monster children, but otherwise, everything was great.

The dogs did so well with all of the people. I knew that I could send Chyna, Bevo, Brinxx, Shooter, & Schatzi to their beds, & not have to worry about them causing problems. I was a little concerned about Angel remembering to stay in her bed, & I was really worried about how Brutus would handle the crowd. They both did great. They were happy to go outside & play with the kids for a while, then they came back inside, & curled up on their beds, as asked. DH smoked a duck for them as a reward for their good behavior.

DS #2 made me start crying at dinner. Our family has always had a kid's table, & an adult's table. My grandfather, who passed away over the summer, would always sit at the head of the kid's table for dinner. It was his "thing."

As we were about to begin eating, DS tells one of his cousins to move from her seat at the head of the table. I walked over to make sure that there wasn't a problem, as DS pulls out a little picture of my grandpa, his great grandpa, sits it at the head of the table, & tells his cousin "you know that's Pa's spot." I spent the next fifteen minutes crying in the bathroom. It was very sweet.

Productive day here!  I caught up on sleep even with some wild dreams (my cats killing each other in my dream!) and DH having one of his seizure/panic attacks.  We did dinner at my grandpa's apartment with him, my parents, little sis and her BF, aunt and cousin (uncle was on duty doing security but stopped in), grandpa wheeled grandma over from the nursing home next door, and a few others dropped in for a while.  My grandma gets really tired in the afternoon so we were only there a few hours.  We stopped at Old Navy to see if I could use this coupon but it wasn't open.  There were about a dozen people outside of Best Buy at 4pm, it was raining, dark, and cold.  We've been watching Band of Brothers and I did a web project b/c I need the money (car going to the shop tomorrow morning).  I'm trying to keep myself awake and pumped for Old Navy at 3am!

I'm wishing we had brought home some corn pudding. I can't remember if I posted about it earlier. Anyway, assuming that I didn't, last night in the supermarket, we bought some corn pudding. It was awesome. We were thinking we should make some, but had no corn meal, so we decided not to. At about 2:30, I decided we needed it, so I ran out to the store to get corn meal. We made it to the store a few minutes before they closed. The corn pudding wasn't really done till we started on desserts. I almost totally forgot it in the oven (which is why some of us always use the timers). Luckily, when I remembered, it was perfect. I book marked the recipe with sugar in it to use next time, because it could use some. Anyway though, corn pudding is excellent. We're going to have that from now on instead of just the canned corn.
