Oh Great!

the thing to remember is you dont know how long she's been missing. a few hours, or a few days. the owners might not have had time to place adds so it will be important that she remain SOMEWHERE, if not your home, then some safe place, until you're sattisfied that no one is searching. you might also want to place an add yourself. make it nondescript. lost female puppy in this area. call to describe.

Ok, I took her to the vet and they scanned her, but no microchip. I am looking in the paper/craigslist for a lost ad that matches her, nothing yet. She keeps rolling onto her back and peeing all over herself if I stand over her... she is fine if I am sitting. She is really a sweetheart, even if she does resemble a kangaroo [;)]

I'd love to see a picture of her.  Can you possibly upload it as an attachment?  For some reason, my work computer won't show pics unless they are attachments.

I thought she looked like a French Brittany as well. My aunt has one. Not sure if you remember we puppy-sat him a while ago, and he was very hyper! I think it's part a breed thing and part a puppy thing.

    She's adorable!

i had to go look one up to compare [:D] i've only heard of the Brittany Spaniel, not the french (actually i thought brittanys WERE french) but anyway
cute!! they do look a lot alike!

Oh my! she is too adorable! She looks like a BC  mix to me. Her face markings look just like my pup's. I would keep her in a heartbeat. I sure hope someone claims her. Maybe she escaped from her home and the reason she was covered in urine could be because she keeps peeing laying on her back as you described her doing. She must have been terrified being out alone. She's such a baby...poor thing. She's lucky you found her!
Good luck whatever you decide to do with her.

Poor little thing.  No matter where she came from she's having a hard time now.  Not sure of where she is or what's going to happen. Could be all of the things mentioned, or could be none of them.  I'd try my best to find her owners by placing all the appropriate ads, etc. and failing that, I'd think long and hard about turning her into animal control.  Knowing me, I'd end up keeping her.  That's just me.  At the very least, you could start looking for a rescue that might take her.   Puppies are so easy to place that if you can't keep her, she wouldn't be long at the rescue.  She's too freakin cute.

yup keep her with you while you check with all the areas you have to, vets, and whatnot.  Then, put an ad of your own in the paper.  The hyperness, could just be happiness, if in fact it is a pup.  Just do your best, and now that we all know about her, don't just give her to the nearest shelter if you can't do anything, let us find someone close to take her!  She is adorable, I would take her in a heartbeat, but alas, I am in Limington Maine!!!![sm=evilfire.gif]

She's beautiful! I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that she has been abused though. Frosty is quite hand shy, especially with strangers, and the urine could be from submissive peeing. Since she has a collar and looks healthy (to me) I'd make a genuine effort to find her owner. Ask around to your neighbors, post some flyers. If you can't locate anyone, keep her!!!

ETA: She looks alot like my ex's Brittany, except I don't think they come in tri-color, just liver and red. Brittany mix, or mismark?

Massachusetts is closer, right????? [:D]  OMG, she is too cute.  I wouldn't even hesitate to keep her.  Start clicker training her - maybe if you do find the owners, they will be amazed at how smart she is and keep better track of her.  If not, you will have a head start to what I think might be a dog of a lifetime (really - she has the same look Dancer had as a young dog...although, admittedly without the submissive pee).  She definitely looks like a Spaniel mix, but the jump says Border Collie.  Not an uncommon mix if you live in hunt/herd country.  Have you ever thought of visiting the Boston area???????[;)]

She's darling, and I'm going with the Brittany theory.  French Brittany, Brittany Spaniel, now known as just a Brittany.  My old boss got a tri female pup almost a year ago and she's a doll - they are VERY nice dogs and quite trainable.  I'd probably have to keep her or find her a good home with someone I knew......

She's precious!!  I want her.  No I don't.  Yes I do.  No.  Yes.  Ugh!!!

To further complicate the possible scenarios, I'd wonder if she was puppy-napped and escaped from whoever got her.  I wondered that with the GP foster we had.  People pup-nap them and do horrible things.

I certainly hope you find her an excellent home.  Puppies are quite the challenge, aren't they?  [:D]

Aw man, she sure chose the right person!  I'd keep her in a heartbeat.  All that behavior stuff can be fixed with time and love.  I hope everything works out for the best!
