    No Mindless chatter???

Or am I just missing it?

I've been in the kitchen all morning.....the regular bread is in the oven, the raisin bread is cooling, the cranberry is finished and the zuchinni is almost done.....tonights dinner, stuffed peppers, and sweet taters for dinner and for Thanksgiving are in the oven as well.  I need a bigger oven!

I'm pooped.  Need more coffee I think.....

Well, if it's here I missed it too ... so thanks for starting it Glenda.  Max got a shorter walk today because I (thank doG) remembered to stay out of the park and off the greenbelts.  Today was the annual Turkey Trot, a huge foot race that winds through town and all along the bike paths, so that was not the place to be with a squirrel obsessed dog who thinks everyone wants to stop and schmooze with him. I went to a dinner last night hosted jointly by the Oddfellows, Soroptimist International of Davis and the Downtown Business Owners Association. It was one of those things where four people baked turkeys and everyone else brought something.  There were so many great side dishes from people who actually know how to cook and obviously enjoy doing it ... things like sweet potato gnocchi, butternut squash ravioli w/pumpkin sauce and a salad made with cranberries, apples and pears ... things you never normally see at a *traditional* Thanksgiving meal.  I'm still full. Surprise

You are both getting me hungry with talks of food.

Yesterday night, I went over to a friend's house to try her Wii.  It was a BLAST.  I had so much fun, and everyone looked crazy trying the hula-hoop.  LOL.

This morning, I took the girls to the park and we fed the ducks and geese.  We spotted a heron, and shared bread with some begging squirrels.  Then we just walked in the woods for a bit.  I don't know why small children (3-4yrs old) think they can just run at my girls.  Kya gets TERRIFIED.  I just thank god they didn't bite them.  I put myself between, but wow.

Just now finished scrubbing the house.  Whew...

We just watched the Olympic torch being taken through our province, it was rather delightful to see!! We actually saw it at the point where the torch switched from carrier to carrier, so that was neat. I feel like I saw an important piece of the Olympics now!

Took the dogs in the car on my errands today, they are always so good in the car. After we finished our running around I took them to a local small dog park on the way home. When we got there there were people in it so I just took Zipper and he had a great run with a Golden Retriever (rude, but Zipper handled him very well), a sweet female Cocker Spaniel, and a nice Labradoodle thing. We stayed until they left and then I took the girls in to play for a while as well. When I went to get the girls from the car, I left Zipper in the enclosed area....well, once again enclosed is in the eye of the beholder as Zipper did a little dig, a little poke, and under the fence he goes and trots over to the car where I am to wait for momma. *sigh* Such a good boy to come find me, but such a terrier to get out under a dog park fence. You'd think they'd make them a little more secure. Tongue Tied

Got my hair dyed today.....went quite a bit darker, the color is called Deep Bronze Brown....I'm getting used to it but I really like it!! I think it'll suit me well.

My sister and mom came over for the afternoon, she's sooooooooo pregnant now, she's only a few weeks left to go. Shimmer sat in her lap the whole time and even licked her belly, it was so sweet. It was like she knew there was a little boy in there kicking all around!!

A really nice weekend off so far, headed off to the parents' for supper, then we're going to relax this evening. Hoping to get a nice day tomorrow so that we can take the dogs for a long hike on some of the safer trails (aka....no risk of snare traps like there are in the local trails).

My sister actually got to carry the Olympic torch years ago.  She died in '95, so yeah, it's been a good number of years!

I'm afraid that the house is going to stay a bit on the messy side for tonight!  The kitchen is sparkling clean though.  I love to cook and bake, but cleaning up the mess is not so much fun.

I ended up with four loaves of cranberry bread, five zuchinni, and two each of white and raisin.  I had thought about getting a sour dough starter going, but, nah, enough kitchen time for one day!  I might do the sweet taters for Thanksgiving, but odds are I'll just stick them in the fridge and take the skins off in the morning. All I'll do is mash them anyhow and put a bit of butter on them, then stick them in a casserole and the freezer.  Why I bust my *** on Fridays to get the whole weekend off and then spend Saturdays busting it more in the kitchen is simply beyond me.......gotta me an illness.  Mental perhaps!  Confused

Leaving 3 guys at home for a week = a HUGE mess.  I was about to start cleaning when I decided that it wasn't my mess, & I wasn't going to clean it up.  Instead, I made DH & the kids a list of things that they needed to get done.  Now, they are begrudgingly cleaning up, & I am sitting on my butt, flipping through a magazine.

Mess or not, it's so good to be home.

I spent most of today reading a book. I can't remember the last time I read a book that wasn't dog training related!

I put off all of my house cleaning and spent time with the dogs at the park. So tomorrow I will need to get busy

Does anyone want sunshine? I am so over her barking at every little thing.

I had a semi successful trip to IKEA.  I got a mirror for the guest room, a new colorful throw for the couch, this candle thing - I'm not generally a candle girl, but I liked this one - it's square and had oversized tealights that get inserted in nine holes....I tried to get blinds for the window but couldn't find the size I needed.

I made fiance clean the dog run (eww....too bad the outside is "his" job, hehehe) and now he's making dog food.

We had a HUGE adoption day! I am so thrilled - there were a LOT of community events today - so I was expecting a dud... but we had 12 adoptions today alone!

I had my 'home visit' from the pit bull rescue, and they already have a dog lined up for me for next week (providing the pup I have now goes home tomorrow!).

    Overall...I'm tired. It's been a long week....

No thanks. We have our own bark machine here in Buffy. She's 14 now and not only barks at noises but at movements/vibrations now too. I love her but sometimes.....Super Angry

Amanda - I need you to come train me. I applaud you making the guys clean up the mess they made. I'd have probably told them to go have some fun while I clean. Confused

I spent the early part of the day cleaning and then we've just been hanging out watching TV and both of us took a nice nap. It's been a good day.

About a week ago they had a story on the news about a sea lion that had been injured and was hanging out on the docks here. One of the stories said that it had been shot right near the eye and I was so upset to think that someone would do that. Well, the injured sea lion took off before anyone could help it but today they arrested the guy who shot it. They said that possibly the guy shot it because it was eating his fish, but I couldn't care less. It was great seeing them take the guy away.

I am tired and blistered but got a lot done today!  I've been doing chores for 12 hours.  I washed all my curtains, upholstery, towels, and dog bedding, I cleaned all the window sills and blinds, wiped out light fixtures, dusted, vacuumed, sorted through bills and papers, I think I'm on my 6th load of laundry, totally cleaned out and vacuumed my van (had to take dog kennels out and put seats back in), raked the property again (DH helped with this), hung all the clean curtains, did some general straightening and rearranging of things, made a ton of dusting rags out of bed sheets (got new ones last week), and made 6 batches of Chex Mix.  All that's left for me to do this weekend is vacuum again, wipe down the kitchen, run over to Pier One and buy some new scented candles, switch my summer and winter clothes, and fold my clean laundry.

DH helped rake, folded his laundry, cleaned the bathroom, and took Nikon for a jog.  Somehow his past 12 hours have included a lot more video gaming than mine!

My good friend is coming over tomorrow to get Texmex take-out and just drink and hang out, so I've quarantined the nice half of the living room from the dogs.

Someone save me. After putting it off for months, I have decided that today is the first night of nuk detox for Willa. A long time ago we gradually got her to only use it at nap time and bed time. It wouldn't be a big deal but I really think it's making her top two front teeth stick out a bit. So I snipped the end off before I gave it to her tonight. She looked pretty confused, but then got frustrated. She did ok when we were reading books. I laid her down and she settled in. But after a minute or so she started crying. That was about 15 minutes ago and she's still wailing. Sad I feel so bad but I know it has to be done. Hopefully she'll get over it in a couple of days. We're not going to get any sleep tonight.

I groomed a whopping 9 dogs today. And I have a 6 dog stop tomorrow. And I groom mobile- I got stuck in the mud. Luckily at my stop, they were having professionals do their Christmas lights- and they pulled me out. I find out the verdict of the lawn tomorrow.

Still wailing. I am in need of "Willa, just go to sleep!" vibes. Crying I may have to sleep in the basement tonight.

Come on Willa, go to sleep!
