TGIF!! Mindless

I'm actually excited for Halloween this year. I'm going to try to take Willa trick-or-treating. I'm guessing she'll be scared and we'll only make it to a few houses, but no big deal. It's not like she eats a ton of candy anyway. I'm hoping she has fun seeing all the other kids' costumes.

Also, what I'm even more excited for, is going to see DH and his buddies play music at a Halloween party. They're doing all Misfits songs. I'm sure it will be all smokey and full of drunks, so I'm not planning on staying that long.

I'm going to see a teacup agility event tomorrow. I'm excited!

That should be fun!  I had to google it since I never heard of it till just now.  I'm glad more and more dogs are getting to do activities previously limited to purebred dogs.

Jackie, I thought you were going home early?  How are you ever going to be ready for what Deb has instructed you to do tomorrow?

Amanda, so glad to read you've got Lola!  I'm sure you'll be her angel.

I got a job! It's on Saturday and Sundays night for 10 hours. Pays 10.90. I will be volunteering for Fridays whenever they offer overtime. I start tonight. So JJ gonna have to take Samantha trick or treating alone tomorrow.

I thought so too but fate stepped in and here I am.  No sane person could possibly follow Deb's instructions...............................without booze.  She sent that too.  LOL

She was probably 5 or 10 shots into her beloved vodka when she wrote it...or she's not quite sane herself. Stick out tongue

    Congratulations Kimberly!!!

I'm excited for Halloween this year, too.  I can't wait to see the reaction my motion-activated talking pirate skull gets.  Poor kids.  But I'm gonna make it up to them...I'm heading to Costco after work to buy the full-size candy bars for this year.  We're gonna be the talk of the neighborhood!

I'm a bit nervous, though, Sammy barks his fool head off any time the doorbell rings.  BF and I have a plan that one of us will hang out in the bedroom with the dogs while the other pulls trick or treater duty.  That should work out ok, I think.  I thought about using it as a training exercise, but I'm worried it's just too much excitement...we haven't built up to quite the level of a bazillion doorbell rings in a row yet...

Heather, I'm in GA too, and I just find it simpler to sit out on the front porch and leave the dogs inside to bark at the noises.  A lost Basset on a dark Saturday night...no thanks!  We did that even when Hubby was alive because we both loved seeing the kiddos in their costumes.

Since I'm new to this neighborhood, I don't know how many kids to expect.  My candy bowl is full, so I figure I can give a couple pieces to about 40 kids.  Then the lights will be cut.

I stayed home today to watch Chloe, and she's doing well.  Such a good monkey.  I got nothing done aside from a new recipe for my crockpot.  It was yummy and should cover several more meals.

I feel so bad for my Nana.  She let a solicitor go into her house a couple days ago, and subscribed to a magazine they were offering to benefit charity.  Today she discovered her wallet is gone.  She's a sweet elderly lady.  People SUCK sometimes.

    • Gold Top Dog

Oh no, that's awful about what happened to your Nana!!  I'm so sorry!

Marty, that's not a bad idea...just sit outside with the candy.  If it ever stops raining, I just might do that.  Might also help ease any kids who get too scared of my pirate skull, lol.  Dang, if I do that, I guess I'd better wear a costume, huh?  LOL.

Max doesn't bark when the doorbell rings (weird dog) but he loves to run to the door and put his front legs out on the porch to greet whoever is there.  On Halloween I let him drag his leash then slip the loop over the pantry doorknob.  That lets him get to the door and poke his head out but he can't go anywhere.

Since we just moved, I seriously doubt that we have any trick or treaters.  We are having a Halloween party for most of our friends.  This will be our first "family friendly" party, so I'm a little worried that something might not go perfectly.  We have a moonwalk for the kids, along with games planned for them.    Brutus is staying at day care tomorrow night.  I'm not 100% sure that he can be trusted with that many guests, so I think that it will be best if he stays away from the madness.

DH & my brother took the boys to haunted houses tonight.  I wanted to go but I have been in allergy hell all day, & I really didn't have the energy to go out tonight.

Lola is doing so well.  When we got home tonight, she walked into the house as if she had been walking in there for years.  She took meeting our pack with no issues at all.  She was a little stressed about meeting the kids, but as soon as they sat down on the floor, she was happy to visit them, & try to sit in their laps.  When it was time for dinner, I crated her.  As soon as I sent her into the crate, her entire demeanor changed.  She went from a happy girl, to a dog who looked like she had just lost her best friend.  I've decided that she's going to get to sleep in the dog room, crate free.

Gypsy will be crated tomorrow night.  She goes bonkers over all the kids and scares some of them.  This year, I will have Radar to deal with. I am trying to figure out some kind of quick costume so he can get some lovin' from the little ones.

I am one week into a two week LOOOONG stretch at work. We have one person on vacation (Scotland, no less!) and people out sick.  I am working six days next week. Lord, I am tired and I still have until next Saturday evening. However, we leave for the beach on the 11th!  Yippeee!
