I was thinking about you this morning when they were showing the news....you are very dedicated...if it flurries here I am being a whiney butt, lol!

Congrats to Jewel cause she gets to stay with her new family, good job Jennie!  Amanda cant wait to hear about your new adventure!

I have stuff to do today and I am not motivated... I always save my least favorite stuff for last then I have trouble getting it done.  Maybe I should do it first and be done with it, :)

Supposed to go to a Halloween dance Sat. night...Hubby is not feeling well may not get to go, :( I love halloween...so much fun to dress up!

Jackie, it isn't the same dog that I posted about. Unfortunately, that dog's kidneys shut down & she ended up being euthanized. :( Paige, I was running around in shorts & a tank top this morning. I can't fathom snow right now!!

Karen, sending good thoughts to you and your family.

Steph, sorry about the delay of closing.

Annie, even if you're mostly healed up, I'm sure a little extra R&R won't hurt :)

I'm having a bummer of a day. Leaving tomorrow to visit family. This morning I get an email from my former boss (whom I asked for advice on grad school apps) implying I shouldn't apply to famous professor X because "it isn't clear to her what skills I have that he doesn't already have with his current set of students." Also, that the people I'm applying to are essentially "too prominent" and get too many applications, so I need to apply to "more junior people" as well. Some of the people I'm applying to have only been professors for 2-3 years. How much more junior can you get? Trying hard not to feel discouraged, but it's a challenge. Friends of mine in the field and my undergraduate advisor all think I have a good chance, so I guess I need to just keep on keepin' on. Sigh. I am very disheartened about the future right now. I can't help but feel that my and BF's future together depends greatly on admissions as well, since we are both applying to schools right now... So it's not just my professional future on the line, but also my personal/romantic life. Argh! Need to keep the focus and not think about that yet until decisions start rolling in...

Gorgeous day here in paradise. I was surprised to see the pounding that Colorado was getting so early. Ugh - I can't even imagine.

We're heading off to the gym and will hopefully burn off enough calories to offset lunch at Cheeseburger Island Style. They have the bestest burgers ever but you wouldn't want to have your cholesterol checked for a few months after eating there.

Tomorrow is spa day and I'm looking forward to a relaxing, rejuvenating facial. My friend is going for the full on spa treatment. I'll probably be jealous but I just couldn't get passed the idea of spending close to $400.

We have some friends from home flying in tomorrow, so we're looking forward to hooking up with them. They're staying in a different area but it's where they really put on a big bash for Halloween, so maybe we'll head there for the evening.

Why does vacation time go by so much faster than normal? Hmm

What puppy??!!   Tell all because I must have missed this along the way.

{{{Hugs Courtney}}  I wish I had some sage advice but I don't.  Hang in there is so lame but it's all you can do sometimes.

Cathy,  have fun with your spa day tomorrow!!

Thanks for that... really, thank you.... Crying  It's still snowing.... we have accumulated about 13" at home, and maybe 16" here at work.  Yet they say it will likely reach 60 degrees on Sunday.

So, last night I went to the Nuggets/Jazz game.  Seated next to a really funny couple whom I enjoyed immensely, seats were at club level, not suite as I thought.  No difference in the view because they're all together, just the free food.  The lead singer from The Fray sang the National Anthem, then "Cartman" from South Park showed up on the jumbo-tron, dressed in his Nuggets jersey, advising us all to "Respect My Authoritaaay!", before leading us into a "Let's Go Nuggets" chant.  The game is good, the drinks are good, company is good.  Half time show was... get this... Naughty By Nature!!!!  Later they do a skit with Balloon Boy dropping from the rafters, set to video of the Balloon Boy with different places he was "sighted" - like Niagara Falls, Statue of Liberty, etc, etc.  The game was tight until the final quarter, and we win, so I feel thoroughly entertained as we head back to the light rail platform.  Little did I know there was more entertainment to come!

Throngs of people, huddled against the falling snow, waiting for their trains.  Silly guys throwing snowballs at cars exiting the parking lot.  I sniff and go "Hey, do I smell pot?", to which my sister agrees she smells it, and the young couple next to us look over with a sheepish grin and we mutually laugh while he says "sssh!" Then up the track are two young men (and by "men", I mean "tools";), wrestling and thrashing next to the train tracks.  This is an actual fight, but for some reason, the armed security guards are nowhere to be seen.  A light rail train arrives, but these two are continuing to fight and end up falling onto the tracks between two rail cars.  We know the train is about to move and we're yelling for people to hold the doors to stop the train from moving and squashing these two idiots.  Still no security guards, but one dude's girlfriend is screaming at them to stop it.

A woman next to me turns to her boyfriend and says "Look at that girl, just standing there.  Honey, if that was you, I'd be stomping on his @#$ to get him off of you."  as she acts out the whoop-ar$$e she'd lay on the bad guy.  This is a good three minutes and still no security guard.  The fighters manage to get up, continue fighting, as FINALLY the oldest, most feeble security guard on the RTD payroll mopes his way down the track like Eeyore on his way to a depression therapy session.  Gets down to the end and confronts one of the tools.... meanwhile, the instigator is behind him, walking down the track, and punches some random guy in the face... who promptly decks him and lays him out on the snow.  Security Eeyore turns to confront the guy who punched back, who had to defend himself and his right to board the next train.  The two tools and their girlfriend get sent packing (turns out the tools are FRIENDS!), the drunken instigator spewing blood from his face, wiping it with his hand and flicking the drops into the snow.  The girlfriend is tearily wiping her smudged mascara from her face as she says "You guys are sooo embarrassing!!"  ("Embarrassing"... not "lucky to be alive"... embarrassing...!!)

So, yeah, that was my night.  I'm not sure if the game was more entertaining, or the after-"party".  We plan on sending in their resumes for Tool Academy 3.

Agreed.  This whole week has sucked for me.  Thank doG for the beer in the fridge at home.

The only good note about this week is we finally decided on a landscape contractor to work on our backyard.  One of these days, we'll have a pretty, mud-free yard.

Oh, and one of my BFF's told me this week she wants to come down and visit in a few weeks!!!  I can't wait to see her!  She has challenged BF to try and beat her at pool as well as thrown down an "I'll drink you under the table" gauntlet.  We'll see how that works out, hehehe.

Now this is a priceless description and I can see this security guard like he was shuffling toward me. LOL  Glad you had a good time and no one was seriously hurt.

Jackie, it's going to be a German Shepherd. He's 7 weeks old tomorrow so the breeder told me the plan is to ship him next Friday!

How exciting!!!!  I can't wait to see pic's of your new boy!  I fell hopelessly in love with the breed from my very brief exposure to a GSD pup I kept for a few weeks recently.

Edited to add that those are some seriously cute puppies pictured in that link.  :)
