Gorgeous day here in paradise. I was surprised to see the pounding that Colorado was getting so early. Ugh - I can't even imagine.
Thanks for that... really, thank you....
It's still snowing.... we have accumulated about 13" at home, and maybe 16" here at work. Yet they say it will likely reach 60 degrees on Sunday.
So, last night I went to the Nuggets/Jazz game. Seated next to a really funny couple whom I enjoyed immensely, seats were at club level, not suite as I thought. No difference in the view because they're all together, just the free food. The lead singer from The Fray sang the National Anthem, then "Cartman" from South Park showed up on the jumbo-tron, dressed in his Nuggets jersey, advising us all to "Respect My Authoritaaay!", before leading us into a "Let's Go Nuggets" chant. The game is good, the drinks are good, company is good. Half time show was... get this... Naughty By Nature!!!! Later they do a skit with Balloon Boy dropping from the rafters, set to video of the Balloon Boy with different places he was "sighted" - like Niagara Falls, Statue of Liberty, etc, etc. The game was tight until the final quarter, and we win, so I feel thoroughly entertained as we head back to the light rail platform. Little did I know there was more entertainment to come!
Throngs of people, huddled against the falling snow, waiting for their trains. Silly guys throwing snowballs at cars exiting the parking lot. I sniff and go "Hey, do I smell pot?", to which my sister agrees she smells it, and the young couple next to us look over with a sheepish grin and we mutually laugh while he says "sssh!" Then up the track are two young men (and by "men", I mean "tools";), wrestling and thrashing next to the train tracks. This is an actual fight, but for some reason, the armed security guards are nowhere to be seen. A light rail train arrives, but these two are continuing to fight and end up falling onto the tracks between two rail cars. We know the train is about to move and we're yelling for people to hold the doors to stop the train from moving and squashing these two idiots. Still no security guards, but one dude's girlfriend is screaming at them to stop it.
A woman next to me turns to her boyfriend and says "Look at that girl, just standing there. Honey, if that was you, I'd be stomping on his @#$ to get him off of you." as she acts out the whoop-ar$$e she'd lay on the bad guy. This is a good three minutes and still no security guard. The fighters manage to get up, continue fighting, as FINALLY the oldest, most feeble security guard on the RTD payroll mopes his way down the track like Eeyore on his way to a depression therapy session. Gets down to the end and confronts one of the tools.... meanwhile, the instigator is behind him, walking down the track, and punches some random guy in the face... who promptly decks him and lays him out on the snow. Security Eeyore turns to confront the guy who punched back, who had to defend himself and his right to board the next train. The two tools and their girlfriend get sent packing (turns out the tools are FRIENDS!), the drunken instigator spewing blood from his face, wiping it with his hand and flicking the drops into the snow. The girlfriend is tearily wiping her smudged mascara from her face as she says "You guys are sooo embarrassing!!" ("Embarrassing"... not "lucky to be alive"... embarrassing...!!)
So, yeah, that was my night. I'm not sure if the game was more entertaining, or the after-"party". We plan on sending in their resumes for Tool Academy 3.
