Do you let your dog lick you in the face?

Do you let your dog lick you in the face?

Okay, some of my friends think I am really gross because I let T-Bone (and have always let all my dogs, and heck strangers dogs too!) lick me in the face, and I don't cringe when I get a kiss on the lips =p Come on and be honest, how many of you guys do it too?!

I let Nikon b/c he's just a licker, that's how he shows affection (and probably submission) and he licks everyone, including the vets and judges in shows!  Coke has nastier breath so I pass, and Kenya some times has a nasty habit I won't get into here so no way!

Mine, other peoples', dogs that aren't allowed to kiss faces. Check, check, and check (oops, sorry!).

Liesje, I know exactly the habit you mean! I have to watch T-Bone like a hawk so he can't do that, so he can give me kisses! LOL

LOL.  It's a new thing for her (she's 6 years next week, just started this "habit" in the past year).  Oh well, she's not a kissy dog anyway.

I try to avoid it.  I know what my dogs eat & I have no desire for that to be on my face.

I don't let the dogs lick at all..find it icky. Grimmy will still sneak a lick on handds once in awhile, but we're working on it.

I do sometimes let Abner (male Persian) give a quick lick to the nose, but that's about it.

Em is a huge kisser, and I'm working on discouraging it, without squashing her happies. Any ideas? She is allergic to human dander, so it is *bad* for her, but it makes her SO HAPPY to lean against a person, and give kisses.

I let them. Apollo is a major licker (face, hands, arms, legs, basically any exposed skin he'll lick). Patty will 'sneak' kisses; like if you're talking and she's sitting next to you she'll go in for a quick kiss, lol.

Rascal is also a huge licker (mostly out of nerves) but I do NOT let him lick my face. Hands and feet are occasionally okay, but no way no how to my face. 1) He's a known biter, and it makes me a bit nervous, 2) he has THE most HORRIFYING breath you have EVER smelled (like a mix between poop, rotten fish, and raw sewage), 3) he eats and licks disgusting things, 4) I hate how it makes my skin feel sticky.

I don't hold it against anyone who allows face-kisses, but they are definitely not for me!

One thing I don't mind - letting Rascal lick the "human" dishes. As long as they're washed decently afterwards, doesn't bug me at all. But I know it gives some people the heebie-jeebies!

I love "puppy kisses..." I don't like my face licked, but they can kiss me on the lips as long as my mouth is closed. If I see that they've been licking something gross just before, I won't let them do it. Abbie has this annoying habit of trying to stick her tongue in my mouth when I'm yawning...... I draw the line on that one!! And I have let friend's dogs give me puppy kisses.... some people think it's gross, but I love dogs so much that I just don't think about it.....

I love it lol. Ari is a kisser. In fact, don't ever get a flatcoat if you DON'T like kisses in some fashion. We play this game with her, she "attacks" our face with kisses and we pretend to hate it...makes her butt wiggle. The SO never thought he would like dog kisses and thought face kisses were GROSS. Now, well, ahem he's the one who instigates the kissy game more than me!

My Mom does not let Ari kiss her on the face. Needless to say this confuses Ari. She mostly tries to behave, but her mischievous streak attempts to sneak one when she isn't paying attention (Ari hasn't learned my Mom is completely on to her lol and all her attempts thus far have been failures).

Chuck is really well mannered with that. He only licks one or twice on the cheek and not very often

    • Gold Top Dog

All the time!  The only thing I'm "paranoid" about is my glasses- getting them pushed into my face, smudged, broken, etc.  Problem solved by taking them off!  LOL

    In a word, yes.
