I'm so excited that the DOW reached 10,000 again.  If I could re-coup half the money I lost over the last year and a half I will be a very happy camper.

You and me both. I wish I had a ton of money to invest right now but if I did, I'd probably turn the market around anyway. :(

Sarah - I'm sorry to hear about your mom and the cancer. I'll keep her in my prayers.

I hope the surgery for Paige's dad is going really well today. It's so rough to be on the sidelines waiting to hear anything.

I thought we were supposed to be done with the rain and sunny today, but it's pretty gloomy outside. Boss it out of town today and tomorrow though, so that cheered me up.

I was on the phone with my BFF last night for a couple hours and drank too much wine. I slept really good though.

Thanks guys - so far so good.  My mom should have been able to visit him by now, I think, but the doc said he did well in the surgery.

I'm still really thankful that my middle sister (the one I live with here in Denver) is flying home to help my mom.  She's staying until Weds morning.  Meanwhile, my poor mom, through tears of accepting the help, had an honest moment and said "I can't wait to shove this down your sister's throat." - referring to my older sister who lives in NH, has taken advantage of every bit of help my parents give her, but couldn't manage to come walk the dog once today.  I had to laugh that my poor mom even had the thought, but she's right.

EDIT TO ADD Update on my dad:  My mom just called and she's with my dad.  At one point a nurse came in, and I heard her tell the nurse "Just a heads up that he's going to need an assist to the bathroom.  No rush but he thought he might have a need.  So, if he could get some help to go piddle, that would be great."  I said - "MOM, he's not a puppy!!!  He's a man!" Hmm  She laughed and then put the phone up to my dad who just said "I love you" and I said the same and hope he feels better soon, he replied thank you and that was understandably all he could manage.  He's in pain, and he sounds pretty groggy/not good right now.

Sarah, I'm really sorry to hear the tough news about your mom.  I'm sending good thoughts to her, your dad, and you that you're right and they've caught whatever might be there early, so that she can have a good recovery.

This morning, on my train (light rail) ride to work, I imagined what I would do with my (fantasy) lottery winnings.... it's so nice to dream about my new car, new house, things I could do for others, etc.... *sigh*

Paige - I'm so glad your dad is out of surgery and it went smoothly. The next few days will probably be rough for him, but hopefully he'll be home to recover soon. I think that fusion surgery takes some time to heal from. In fact, I think Dyan's husband had it and was in a body cast for awhile but has done well since.

I've been working on clearing out old files. It's nice to get rid of a bunch of junk but it just seems to go on forever. I was going to go do some shopping at lunch but I don't even feel like heading out. I think I'll spend a some of my lunch time on the treadmill and hopefully that'll perk me up.

Paige, I'm so glad the surgery went well.  I sure hope he has a swift recovery, too.

Sarah, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom.  (((hugs and good vibes)))

My coworker just came over to ask me if I'd heard about it because it's all over the local radio stations.  I was sure he was full of crap until I looked online and confirmed he wasn't joking.  Geez!!  Guess I'll be watching the skies to see if he drifts down this way...?  The radio just said he's northeast of Denver Int'l Airport and they suspect air traffic controllers will have to re-route flights!!  How bizarre!!

I just started a thread about the boy in the balloon. It's just so hard for me to even imagine this happening and even harder to imagine a happy ending. I hope I'm wrong though.

Oh doG, the local radio just said as of this point, they say there's no child inside the balloon....

Sarah, so many good vibes coming from me to you & your family.

Paige, I'm glad to hear that your dad is out of surgery.  I hope for a speedy recovery for him & your mom.

It's an icky, cold, rainy day.  Grady is testing out his bladder & my patience by not going outside to potty.  He's going to have to get brave & just do it because we're in the middle of a Nor'easter with another one hot on it's heels.

I got my hair touched up.  I'm a complete blonde again.  It's wonderful having a hair stylist for a friend.  Color & trim costs me a sushi lunch for 2.

The arm is healed & I am cast free for good now!  Annie, your time is coming soon!

    • Gold Top Dog

Paige, I came to see if there was an update on your dad.  Glad to hear he's OK.

Sarah, sorry to read about your mom.  We will be thinking about her.

Yay!!!  That's GREAT news, Amanda!!!  Yep!  This time next week I'll have a new pedicure! ~L~  I'm treating myself to one once the cast is off.
