Did she tell you about cleaning the wrinkles? My grandmother used to show/breed pekes when I was little and she had to clean their wrinkles... >X.x;<

Two of her dogs got into a fight once and one of the dogs' eyes DID pop out from the excitement... The vet wasn't able to save the eye. I hear it was pretty awful. >;.;< The dog lived though... he lived to be about 12-13 with one eye.

I guess since I grew up around pekes I have a soft spot for them. >^^;<

It cost MORE to register the pup?  Was the breeder going to charge you more or was it just the $20 or so that you'd have to send in to AKC with the papers??  The last time I checked it cost $18 to register a litter and $2 for each pup.  GOOD breeders want their pups registered and they GIVE you the registration papers, they don't CHARGE for them.

When i was talking health tests,it wasnt the general wellness checks the vet does on a standard visit. It is the testing of the parents for any genetic conditions which can be passed on to their offspring. For example all labs that are to be bred from should have their hips scored first, and the ones with higher than average scores should not be bred from.
Can you post the website addy for your breeder,if nothing else at least i can have a look at some cute peke's [:D]
