Spotted tongues?

I am guessing you may have already come to this conclusion, but it took me eight years to figure out.  But your dog looks a lot like a flat coated retriever, a breed which is known for spots on tongue.  I have one, and she also has spots on her tongue.  I was initially told she was a lab/chow mix until a flat coated retriever breeder saw me one day and told me otherwise.  I would recommend looking that breed up if you haven't already. For what is worth, mine is 10 now and is an amazing dog.

My Rocky has a spotted tongue.  I too was told he had to have chow with that tongue but....I dont see it at all.  I also have seen Newfs with the spotted tongue.  Dahlia you and your spotted tongue are so pretty.  I dont think I have any pics of Rocky's spotted tongue.

ETA: I see this is an older thread but who could pass up a spotted tongued Dahlia :)

    Haha old thread!

But no, she's not a Flat-coated Retriever.  I've looked them up a lot and while she's black and fluffy, she really doesn't look anything like them.  Her body type is all wrong, her head shape is all wrong, even her coat is all wrong (except for being black, but the hair itself is different).

Over the years we've decided due to personality (she has some pretty good herding instincts for instance!) looks she's actually a Border Collie/Golden Retriever mix. We suspect the spots come from the retriever side of things.
