I can't help it if the media makes a big deal out Sarah Palin's clothes and doesn't have a problem with Obama's handmade tailored suits and what he spent on the Grant Park Party.
I do enjoy the points you make Ron, seriously, even when I do not agree you make me think and often grin.
So here is my small take on the comment above about Palin's clothes and Obama's suits....
The media did not discuss ANY of the men's suits .... Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, or the Plumber Dude..... It was bound to happen and it was not something kicked up by the Dems. Each year we hear about the potential first ladies , who is hotter , who looks like your grandmother, who is a B*ll Breaker and who is so compliant they are practically Jello. We , as in the non military obsessed portion of the voting public, talk about the plans the candidate's wives have for redecorating , for public works, Shoot I remember one year when there was a snotty stink over cookie recipies!! So commenting on Palin's wardobe was a given. She , being the first female to run on this level should have expected it.
Do I care that the GOP dressed her ? Nah.... I didn't care that she liked consignment shops either as I also shop at them. It surely could have started a trend . The most likely concern that brought out the GOP Check book was the power type women of today , the Cashmere Mafia if you will would not be likely to respect a woman who can not appreciate the concept of designer power. They recognize there is strength in being able to dress, dress well and not simply recognize the next trend but in all likelyhood start it. Women appreciate the intelligence that can manipulate a generation.
President Kennedy once said something to the effect that " No one ever wanted to know what Lyndon or I are going to wear, they always wanted to know what Jackie was wearing."
if I may personally will comment on Obama's wardrobe,
the man can wear a suit and wear it well.
( I am not talking about a random hunk just style)
Some men really do tend to be worn by the suit they pull off of the hanger. They look uncomfortable no matter who designed it or what was paid for it. Others can make an off the rack suit look like it was made for them only. I would hazzard a guess that Barrack appreciates fine tayloring, but could just as easily grab that old leather jacket and scarf, throw on some jeans and slip right back to his college wardrobe. It is actually important to me that our President be able to wear his suit with confidence. When I look at a press gathering and there is our president, with other world leaders, I want "my guy" to look like he is in his element. Not pulling at his cuffs, collar or playing with his button on his jacket. So far he has not disapointed.
The donation of the Campaigne wardrobe to raise money via auction is yet another long time femme celebre happening. This has been done for ages. Movie Stars, politicians, local mover and shakers have all done it. Oprah is big on doing what amounts to a cyber garage sale for her favorite causes. No one wants to wear the same clothes again on National TV in 4 years so why not sell them and raise money?? IT is doubtful she would wear the bigger designer lables to the hockey rink. The clothes thing was a National non issue until she had a little ( I would guess exhaustion fueled) Snot fest with the media the other day, then instead of sounding like a sophisticated woman who was laying ground work for 2012 she just sounded like a runner up at a beauty pagent.
and That was a shame.
