Actually, the best sales here fall on the weekend before Thanksgiving.  You might want to check out the stores then, too. Big Smile

I will be out on Black Friday, only to buy my own Christmas gift (a Kitchen Aid Mixer)! Ben wouldn't be caught out shopping at 5:00 am but he said he'd give me the money and I can go get it. I always know what I'm getting for Christmas.

Walmart already has the Christmas decorations out and they're playing holiday music 24/7! I havn't even started Christmas shopping yet!

    1. i alwaysssssssss know what i am getting for Christmas because DH wouldn't even know where to begin if it wasn't for me telling him what i wanted.

    2. I ALMOST - i said ALMOST - like the excitement of waiting til right before Christmas to do the shopping just because DH still acts like a little kid and will BUG me the entire season to open presents early Angry .... and i hate that.  I can't hide presents because he will find them - so I pretty much know what I am getting people and do my shopping starting the day after Thanksgiving until Christmas Eve.

My brother who lives in Virgina is coming down this year with his wife and adorable daughter.  Love the kid, the wife, not so much, she is a clean freak who washes her hands compulsively and gets totally freaked over dog hair!  Some OCD going on there maybe but I don't let it get to me because I don't get to see my brother very often and I love my niece to pieces.  My parents are both dead so somehow I have been hosting the holidays for many years now.  I really love Christmas because of the kids but I am just tired of Thanksgiving.  I work the Wednesday before and it is a lot of work for one dang meal.  I have told them that someone else needs to take the torch but so far no one has stepped up.  I may be forced to lie and say we are going to the coast.  Maybe I won't lie and we will go to the coast.

No to the Black Friday shopping.  I hate shopping and am not good at fighting crowds.  I catalog shop mostly and have bought just about everything already except stocking stuffers.

My sister and I, what with kids, grandkids, godkids and best friends, have 13 Dec./Jan. birthdays to deal with in addition to Christmas so we just do all birthdays at Christmas regardless of when they actually occur. So far we've been able to remember where we've stashed stuff. Smile If we don't get started early (like Sept./Oct.) we just don't get done.

I am with you!  Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.   Several years ago Hubby and I started a new tradition.  Just he and I together for 4 whole days.  I still make the traditional dinner for us but we just have a wonderful 4 day holiday and we love it.   We stay home, watch movies and spend time together.   It was hard to convince some in the family that we just couldnt travel home both Thanksgiving and Christmas.  The kids love it too!  It gives them one less place they feel obligated to get to that day.  So we all talk on the phone and give thanks for being able to stay home.  Definately no shopping!

I will be volunteering at a homeless shelter on Thanksgiving, helping to make and serve meals. I don't have any family to spend it with and I've always wanted to do this, so this is the perfect time. I'm looking forward to it.

It was a lot of fun. TONS of food (aka: free samples!). I bought this brownie mix, and when it's made the brownies equal out to 2 points each on Weight Watchers. So, I'm pretty psyched to eat brownies again! I also bought Apollo doggie gourmet cookies.
