rwbeagles-Our home is under attack

Our house has been under attack as well!  We have a huge Live Oak in the front that has left acorns everywhere.  I love ours too!  Hubby has been gathering them to take to the lease, but the squirrels keep eating them before he can get to them.  We actually feed the birds and the squirrels too.  We have seed for the birds and corn for the squirrels.  I think the birds are mostly done though here b/c we haven't been filling the feeders anywhere near as much as we were during the summer.

Thanks to the squirrels, it's raining pinecones here!

I was at my parent's cabin and was wondering what the noise on the roof was. Sure enough, they're cutting them from the trees and dropping them like little green granades!

Max would so love to come spend a weekend with you. Big Smile I can't tell you how many times I've almost  been pulled face first into a tree because someone was on his hind legs trying to reach a squirrel nattering away on a branch. If I hadn't replaced the back fence I'm sure he would have fallen into the other yard trying to get them as they run across the 2 X 4s on the fence and up the tree next door.

Oh yes...green grenades! Our neighbor has pine trees (my LEAST favorite tree) drops needles everywhere and kills our lawn. The squirrels take pine cones from THEIR tree...up OUR tree and sit and strip them to the core then toss the core on OUR lawn LOL. Buggers.

I shared this pic before but this is the ShroomHead caught in the act...

They are cute little buggers.  I have to keep reminding myself that they are R*O*D*E*N*T*S .... just rats with pretty, fluffy tails.

No they're not!  Not at 5 am when you've been asleep for 3 hours!  They're evil incarnate!  The fluffy tails were evolution's way of playing a terrible trick on us so we'd feed them and think they're cute and take pictures of them, they're evil!!!

I have a fairly new neighbor that seemed to be very "good ole' boy" if you know what I mean.  My son came in from working on the yard one day and said he couldn't finish the job because the neighbor was outside with a gun and was shooting at invisible things and cursing.  I thought, oh great, we got a loony on the street.  He's friends with the cop next door, who was home at the time, so I thought, what could I do?  I got to know him a little later and it turns out the cute little creatures had gotten inside the engine of not only his truck but the cops cruiser (they get to bring them home here) and destroyed wiring, built small nests, etc. all in 24 hours!  He was shooting at them with a BB gun but the cop had other ideas, unfortunately, those pesky regs kept him from carrying them out.  Big Smile

My uncle-in-law had trouble with them in MA so he trapped them with the humane traps and relocated them far away.  His family told him he was insane when he insisted that the same squirrels were coming back.  Until he spray painted the squirrels' tails orange and sure enough, it was the same squirrels!

They're rats with fashion sense, nothing more!  I HATE THEM!!!

I don't even rate them as rodents. They are V*E*R*M*I*N in my book. Lower than rodents.
