We have the Pet Safe wireless! I have two crazy prey driven birddogs. It has worked very well. In many of the older in -ground models, stubborn dogs will "take a hit" to get out and then are reluctant to take another hit to return. With the wireless, If the dogs leave the transmitter's signal, they get a static
correction (adjustable) for 30 seconds or until they return to the
transmitter's field. so they learn that the boundary line that they perceive from the warning beep defines their safe zone. Make much more sense to them.
It will only transmit in a circular pattern - you can adjust the size of the circle. That is it's only drawback. The great things about this unit is that it is "plug and play" - no wires to deal with. It is also portable. We rent a house smack on the beach in Gulf Shores, AL and take it with us. We plug it in, set the size of the containment circle, put out flags and walk the dogs with the collars on to let them hear the warning beep and they are good to go. It also has a DC adapter for your car to use when you are camping or picnicking.
There is always the problem of not having a physical boundary to keep other critters out, but I don't keep the girls out all day am there to supervise. If your neighborhood has a problem with aggressive stray dogs, a physical fence is always the best for your dogs and your own safety.
