THAT one may be but.......... what else is out there that we do not know?? I KNOW the Captain lived in our home after my Mom bought a bedroom suite from the early 1800's It was made by a Sea Captain for his daughter and her husband. They perished from a storm. The furniture never lasted more than 6 months in anyone's home before ours. We had it set up in the 4th bedroom upstairs with the loft family room. Sitting down stairs we could hear the Captain walk from one side to the other of the house, that locked door was not an issue . He would knock the big dumb carnival animals that my step dad would bring home to my mom off the bed, they would be re arranged completely... My cats and dogs would NOT go to that door or into that room, they had always gone in and out when my brother had it for his bedroom. Every day when the mail came if we were not fast enough you would hear the Captain Open the mailbox at the front door and check the mail !! My friends used to bet each other it was a trick and did everything they could to figure it out..... from the footsteps the Captain was a tall and heavy man. He walked like a sailor, and checked the weather from the Southern and Northern Upstairs windows all day long. Our pet Monkey a Pigtailed Marque , Piper was a fun little critter but as fearless as she was the upstairs from the 4th to the top stair was off limits to her. She would sit on the fifth step and chatter furiously , shaking her tiny fist at the top of the stairs. Gradually the Captain seemed to chill out and the family animals could deal with him much better unless they were new to the house. Then the whole silly thing started once more. The big item was and always will be the silly carnival animals , perfectly placed on the bed in a locked room with a dead bolt who's key was worn around my mom's neck ...... scattered all over the floor when you next opened the door. Nothing else was ever disturbed.
