My step daughter went home yesterday and I have been feeling really down since then.  We had a great Summer and I really didn't want her to leave.  The house just seems so empty without her.  Harley has been spoiled rotten by her all Summer and now he is depressed b/c he is back to sleeping on the couch and isn't getting constant attention.  I let him sleep with me for awhile last night to help him adjust.  He insists on sleeping against my skin though and I eventually got too hot!

While hubby was taking her home I put the crib together and put all the bedding in it just to see what it looks like.  It brings the room to life!  Hubby painted the nursery on Friday.  It is nice to see it coming together and now I just want to be in there all the time.  It will be even better once I get the rocking chair fixed and get a few more things in there and a few others out.  We went to unclaimed freight as well as a few other furniture stores and found a chest of drawers that will be perfect as well.  I can't wait to get them here and start filling them up some.  We are buying all of the large items, especially furniture, and hopefully we will get some of the smaller stuff at my shower.  I am just glad the room is cleaned out and started b/c by the time I will be able to work on it again in October, I will be huge and it will be that much harder to get done!

moohaha Bugsy just barked at his nemesis Snowflake the wandering white cat - and my neighbor said, "wow that is hte first time I've heard him bark, didn't think he had it in him"

Yes we've had Bugs since Dec '05 with the same neighbor

Shooter & I re-started obedience classes yesterday.  We joined an open class, & while Shooter knows how to do everything, his performance yesterday was disappointing, to say the least.  He had absolutely zero focus, & I had zero patience.  By the time class was over I was ready to shoot myself.  This week we will be working on "attention" again, because he seems to have forgotten it.

Bev had his evaluation by the orthopedic surgeon on Friday.  He recommended resting Bev for 2 weeks & then re-evaluating the knee.  He thinks that there is a partial tear, but wants to see how it responds to rest before deciding if surgery is needed.

Since Bev is "usually" very well behaved, I decided to let him go with us to Shooter's class.  We've done this before without an issue, so I was confident that there would be no problem.  I tossed his bed over in the corner of the arena, put him in down, stay, & Shooter & I went to join the class.  About 45 minutes into class, I see a golden blur, & a big black & tan blur streaking across the arena.  (Our trainer's dog "Faden" & Bevo.)  I could have strangled him right then!  Both my trainer & myself yelled stop commands to our dogs.  They both stopped, & then we both recalled them.  Bev decided to take the scenic route before coming to me.  He took the high jump, & then circled back to take the broad jump, before he came & executed a perfect front, nub wagging the entire time.  I'm pretty sure that his running & jumping aren't exactly what the surgeon would consider "resting."

Ok done laughing now - Shooter you're going back to boot camp kiddo!

And that is very reasonable of the surgeon and two weeks isn't too long so hopefully the rest really helps and he can get on with running and jumping to his heart's content!  I love that he took the scenic route home ha ha ha

still laughing - probably because I know a dog that might do something similar

Tyler has instructions to come and tell you all when the baby gets here, but if baby doesn't get here until the middle of the night, you may have to wait till Tuesday.  Either way, it doesn't look like she's willing to make a voluntary appearance so I'll be induced tomorrow at 11 am.

I'll drop in in the morning for any moral support anyone is willing to share.  I'm totally scared of being induced.  I've heard so many bad stories about it.  And I just have an awful feeling.

Candace don't be afraid it will make everything more difficult - you will be fine - she will be fine - I KNOW that OK?

All the best thoughts and vibes we have coming your way

Karen, I was shocked that Bev took the scenic route.  He never does that.  Shooter, otoh, does it all the time.  Usually, he does have the manners to look at me, give me the finger, look at what he wants to, & then come as if I had just called.  Confused

Candace, NO WORRIES!!!!  You & baby will be fine.  I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.

Everyone/thing in my house is exhausted!  Two of my young cousins are staying with DH & I for a while.  We took the boys & the dogs camping last night.  Everyone had a great time.  DH, kids, & dogs spent most of the day today swimming, while I sat on the pier & read.  They all smelled like lake water, so baths were required before anyone/thing could go inside to relax.  Now that everyone is clean, they have all curled up for the night.  The boys are in bed, DH is sleeping on the couch, & the dogs are all in their beds.  This is the quietest that my house has been in a long, LONG time.  I could get used to this.

Thanks ladies.  Karen, you're right.  I'm just making things worse by worrying.  I really need to learn how to meditate or something.  I really appreciate the support.
