There is a family who has a couple of Shelties and whenever we go by their house, the Shelties go berserk, barking and such.

    You must live near me......

Shiner went off leash on a hike a couple weeks ago for the first time. His behavior was perfect. His recall was 100%, he was perfectly calm around strangers and strange dogs we passed, and he held a down-stay forever while we sat on an observation deck and people and children were all around us. I'll even dare to say that his chewing has all but stopped. I'm very impressed with this dog.

Ripley is hands down the smartest dog I've known. Ever.

Frosty is a total sweetheart, very gentle with children and small animals, and is the easiest dog I've owned. He's just good all the time, never gets into anything, just really easy to manage.

Brownie- He can really tell everybody moods and knows how to act according to that. Like for an example I was really happy last night and he came in and jumped on my bed which he like never does. It just made me laugh so hard.

He is also good with other dogs and knows when to be polite and when to start giving the warnign growls. At home if another dog approaches our fence he will bark until he sniffs the other dog and gets to know if they're ok or not. If he thinks theyre ok he will trot along the fence and make freinds with the dog but if the dog is mean he will run and bark from the fence to the house trying to warn us of the big bad doggy outside the fence.

Ok last paragraph about Brownie I swear. His personality just shines like a diamond in the dust. He is such a velcro and lover boy.

Cuddles- She is such a cuddly girl hence her name. She will cuddle witth you all night if she could!!! Ill think of more brags later.

Rosco- is just my boy. He does whatever is asked of him, is kind and gentle, loves to cuddle, is great with the other dogs, even when they are being jerks, and is a pleasure to be around. He had a bath yesterday and jumped right in the tub when asked then stood quietly the whole time, pick up his feet to have them scrubbed, etc. He runs to his spot in the kitchen when it's dinner time, sits quietly while it's prepared and waits to be released to eat and go outside. What a good boy!

Lexi - is so sweet, she never causes any problems, is happy to go and do whatever with DH and me, she comes inside when she is asked, sits for her meals, waits at the door to be released, only barks once when she hears something, put herself to bed at night if she gets too tired, and love brief cuddles. She has never met a stranger.

Luna - may be a little naughty, but she is smart and fun. She is responsive and a great partner for sports, She loved to be near her people (DH is her favorite), and loves other dogs. She is a blast to take for walks and has mastered LLW in low, mid and some high distraction environments. Given that she is a really drivey dog, with extreme motion sensitivities (if you move a hair she will move 3 feet), the LLW success is huge for her, especially at age 1.5 with me out of commission from the time she was 6 months - 1 year roughly.

Really simple for me - I just love how much Jamison loves me !!!  To see him so happy when I walk through the door at night puts me in such a good mood after a long day at work.  Then after a long walk, a session of killer fetch, chores for the evening, etc., - how he likes to snuggle up with me while I relax with a good book, or maybe some tv and a glass of wine or some other such libation !!

Yesterday DH and I took my Dad and the boys to Historic Stillwater for a visit.  This is an older town with lots of antique shops and candy shops and stuff.  Morrison and Monroe walked the town with us and behaved so well that others were given them pats and praise.

We were able to take them into the Life is Good store because they are so dog friendly.  The boys sniffed around, had a drink of water and then Morrison plopped himself down in an Adirondack style chair to wait for us to finish shopping.  He was soooo patient and good just lying there, waiting that I dropped the leash around the arm of the chair and left him there, within eyesight.  For a pretty hyper and young dog, this was amazing.

    G'Boyz!

Maggie was my first rescue and even though we had some issues to start off with, she is now a great little girl. Even though she's stubborn and independent and her recall stinks no matter how many times we work with her on it, she's a great companion and cuddler. She enjoys simple things like hanging out on the back deck in the shade, or layin on the couch in the A/C. Not to mention her newest fav. thing to do: swimming!

Teddi has been the best dog I have ever owned since a puppy. He always listened, he learns things very fast, and he's very inquisitive. He always makes me laugh and he loves to sit on your lap! He enjoys rollerblading with his daddy, long walks in the evening, and romping through the creek. He's my baby, and always will be. He never ceases to amaze us with the things he learns or picks up, and usually always does something to make you laugh.

Maggie and Teddi are a perfect pair for each other. Maggie likes to play rough and can handle a bigger dog to play with, while Teddi knows his strength and knows how much he can play around with her and how gentle he needs to be. They like to snuggle with each other at night on their beds, and its the cutest thing!

I took Max out on his own today - it's something I've started to do from time to time, because we both enjoy it so much.  We went through the woods and I let him run free.  After a bit I saw some people in the near distance and whistled him to come back and instructed him to "heel" until we got closer so I could work out if they had dogs with them.  (He's much better with other dogs now, but we've had so many bad experiences messing up all my hard work that I prefer to keep  him close just in case!)  They didn't so I didn't bother putting his lead on.  I walked him at heel past these people then asked for a sit and when he looked at me, told him to "go on then Big Smile".  I heard the lady say to (presumably) her husband, "what a nicely behaved dog...." I nearly burst!

Well, I'm head over heels for Gingerbread, so I'll try to keep this short. lol He's a calm, sweet, gentle, perfect little gentleman. I love the way he prances with happiness on walks, looking so proud of himself. Smile I can leave him home with the run of the house and he doesn't get into anything. He's a great little watchdog and takes his job seriously- not that anyone will take a little marshmallow of a Shih Tzu seriously. lol He's gentle with other animals and gets along really well with the "quiet group" at doggie daycare.

He surprises me with how he's able to understand phrases put together. The other day I said "go look out the window; there's a kitty" and he went right over to the window, scanning intently to find the cat. He knows "do you want to look out the window", "go  (fill in the blank)", and "kitty" so I thought that was pretty smart that he put them together.

He loves making friends; he makes rounds sitting on our friends' laps and even non "dog people" end up loving him. He'll snuggle with me and my husband until the cows come home and he makes a great pillow warmer. What can I say, I love him! Smile

     Good doggies!

Another little brag for Ben, I had to take him to the vet this morning for his annual checkup, somewhat nervous since he really hasn't had many vet trips and at his last annual checkup he was a year old and a complete nutter.  He sat nicely by my side in the waiting room, totally ignoring the meowing cat in the carrier 5 feet away (he hates cats), he stood still while she ran her hands over him, checked his teeth, his ears, his paws.  Climbed nicely onto the scale (she's thrilled as ever with his weight), sat calmly for his jabs and at the end went into a lovely down for a treat.  She said "he really has turned into a lovely dog, hasn't he?"  Proud me!

I LOVE my dogs! They do so much for me in ways they will never know! Each one is such an individual and I adore their personalities.

Maxine is my *heart* dog. She is the air I breathe, I worry as she gets older how I will make it without her. She is such a good dog in every way. People always comment on how well trained and how good her behavior is. I do not take credit for her she was born perfect.

Belle is my sweetie. She just is a love puppy. She also goes out of her way to please us. She is sandwiched between two pushie goldens for attention. She just goes with the flow. Lately at night she has been going in the adjacent bedroom to our to sleep (she is always in our bedroom in the AM) I always go in to say goodnight and give her a kiss. I can't see her in the dark, but I hear the thump of her tail.

Teddi is our comic relief. She makes us smile and laugh at her antics. We have nicknamed her "devil spawn" as she is the cutest trouble maker you could ever ask for. She has us wrapped around her little finger.

All three of my dogs are wonderful. They listen, they love to be with us, they hate to disappoint us. I could not ask for better fur kids.

My dogs are great. I honestly couldn't ask for better dogs. They are all reliable both on & off leash. They're great with strangers, & they love kids. I have no issue trusting them alone with my nieces, & cousins, when they are at our house visiting. Each dog knows, at least, basic obedience commands. ie..sit, stay, down, come, stop, leave it, & an emergency drop. They all housetrained very quickly. They do well with other dogs. They all get along. I don't have to worry about seperating them when I leave the house, because I know that there will be no issues between them. They are all atheletic enough to be able to comfortably keep up with our lifestyle.

Chyna is the sweetie. She is the most tolerant dog that I have ever met. She's been through numerous surgeries, both for tumors, & three leg surgeries. She breezed through chemo as if nothing were wrong. Recently, she rubbed an ulcer on her cornea. Even with a very painful eye, & treatment ocurring 4 times a day, she has stayed upbeat & cheerful.

Bevo is my "heart dog." He just knows what I want. He's so in tune with my moods that it isn't funny. When I'm sad, he does something silly to try to get a laugh. If I don't laugh, he comes to me to snuggle. Though aloof at times, Bev does very well with other people. He is very watchful of me, & he knows when I am uncomfortable with someone. When that situation arises, he positions himself between us & watches carefully. I rarely leash him because he has no desire to be anywhere but by my side. I know that he would walk through fire for me, & I feel the exact same way about him.

Brinxx is our silly girl. She's a total goofball & everyone's best friend! She is the well mannered greeter when guests arrive at our home. She loves to be the center of attention, but is not demanding. She doesn't come demanding petting, but rather curls up on your foot so that she is in contact with you without being a pest.

Shooter, is the "jerk". He's stubborn, hard headed, & willful. He's also sweet, loving & very outgoing. His good, & bad qualities are most like mine, & we share a special bond because of this. I love these qualities about him! He's very smart, when he wants to be. He is up for anything. If I want to take the bigger dogs hiking, there is no doubt that Shooter wants to come. He has no issue keeping up, even on long hikes. He doesn't let his little stubby legs slow him down for a second. He has no clue that he's a little guy, & he refuses to play with the little dogs. He will, inevitably, pick the largest dog in the dog park to play with. He has a great sense of humor. He loves to be silly for the sake of being silly.

Schatzi is our "shy", lap dog. She presents herself as quiet & shy until you get to know her. At home, Schatzi is content to sit in a lap for hours on end. (if only her owners were content to sit still that long!) When we are out, she is ready to play.

One of my favorite things about Pirate is how self-sufficient he is. When I work from home (usually 1 or 2 days a week) he's completely happy to play with his toys by himself.

I couldn't ask for a better dog than Rupert. He is such a love. Rupert loves everybody. People and dogs. He even likes dogs that aren't that crazy about other dogs or are shy. He seems to pick out the dogs that are hanging back watching all the action. He'll sniff them and let them sniff him, do play bows, bounce around them, do little hip-checks until they play with him. I was at the dog park once (we don't go much, it's over an hour away) and he was trying to get a dog named Rock to play. The owner was like, uh, good luck dog, but he doesn't play. Rupert just kept at it, and finally Rock started wagging his tail and playing a bit. The owner was shocked. He said that he's never played with another dog like that before. It was so cute.

Heidi Bragg - 19 month old GSD now has a great recall.  The first time we visited a dog park, I made my way to the very back of the park while she stayed up front a bit nervous about the newness and all the dogs greeting her.  I was about 500 + feet away from her and called her once.  Her ears perked up, and she came a running!  I received a few nice compliments from folks stating how well she recalled.  Big moment for me and Heidi as it was the first real recall test with major distractions.  Big Smile

Buddy Bragg - At the vet this week, he was the most calm and polite dog in the room.  I called his attention to me "Look at me Buddy," and he kept his focus on me while other dogs walked past us.  So sweet!  Left HugRight Hug

Cody (RIP) Bragg - She would worry about the kids standing too close to the pool.  She would place herself between the pool and the kid and sweetly nudge them away.  I miss her terribly!  She passed away by drowning in that same pool.  Crying
