Tonight was our first run-in with a loose, aggressive dog. Well actually we've had a few run-ins with a pretty aggressive mini-Dachshund, but we avoid that house now and that dog is so small even when he's aggressive my dogs don't get upset, they just kinda kick him off (he bites ankles of people and dogs, anything that moves really). Well tonight I was walking Coke and Kenya by myself, we were almost home, when this huge fat Beagle comes tearing down a driveway, growling and spit flying, and charges up to Coke. Kenya jumped out of the way, but the Beagle got all up in Coke's face. The owner came running, screaming the dog's name but of course the dog was deaf to it. She was growling and lunging at Coke's neck, who was dancing around trying to get out of her way. It only lasted about 10 seconds, the owner ran over, alpha rolled her dog, said "SORRY!" without looking me in the eyes, and carried the dog into the house. Me and my dogs just stood there like "well then!" Neither dog seemed to really care so we went on our way like nothing happened. Coke never tried to defend himself and my dogs were under my control both on the public sidewalk the entire time (it's not like they were walking on this Beagle's yard, I don't let them walk in people's yards only the area between the walk and the street). I'm thankful they didn't get shaken up by it. I don't have any trouble walking both my big dogs by myself (often we walk right past other people and dogs on the same sidewalk), but I don't need other people's dogs tearing around like that! Sheesh.
