Flea stuff question

Grady acts like I'm putting acid on him.  Treats are always involved in the process too.  All he has to see is me putting on my rubber gloves & he's gone.  I use the rubber gloves because I'm convinced that I had a bad reaction to Frontline myself.  I had a migraine that sent me to the ER thinking I was having a stroke.  The ONLY thing that I had done differently that day & for a few days prior was the Frontline.  So now I always use rubber gloves & wash my hands thoroughly after applying it to the critters.

It's funny you mention that.  The last time I applied Frontline to the animals I also got a headache later, but I didn't associate it with the Frontline.  I just remember thinking it was odd, because I don't usually get headaches.  It still may have had no relation, of course.  I don't know.

Both of my dogs and one of my cats hate having Frontline applied.  And I do them all separately, alone, so it is not due to them picking up on others' reactions.  I wouldn't think they would react the way they do, unless the stuff burns or feels funny somehow?  Otherwise, I would think it really should be no big deal...it just takes a second to squirt on the liquid, and I'm very calm and nonchalant about it.

Ben used to not like it because it was cold, and therefore a shock.  (Ever put on lotion that felt freezing even though it was room temperature?)  I hold the Frontline tube in my closed hand for 5-10 minutes before applying.  Since I started that, he's been fine with it.

It's in an alcohol base, so if they're scratching, it could definitely bother them.

And yeah, the "avoid contact with skin" thing bothers me, too. I almost never use it. Teenie actually developed a chemical burn from whichever stuff I'd used on her. It was pretty unpleasant.
