It's funny, I've always heard that double coats help dogs stay cool as well as warm, but I never really witnessed it before the past two days, when Cherokee, with quite the thick double coat (she hasn't blown it yet, which I just realized is actually really really strange..hmm...), seems pretty cool and comfortable 95% of the time, and Jaz, with his thin single pit bull coat is panting like crazy. Vady vady interesting...
When Cherokee does start showing signs of being hot, I've been giving her a frozen short rib, or some frozen raw medallions. Both seem helpful. She's an inside dog, but we don't have A/C. She hates water, and would most likely not touch any expensive cooling devices I bought, so...thank god for the double coat! lol
