OPRAH - PUPPY MILLS

i marked my calendar so i wouldnt forget to watch this episode and it is all true about puppy mills. I got my beloved Maggie from a Shih-tzu rescue MANY years ago and the rescue saved her from a puppy mill. Maggie was less then 3 years old and wasnt having many puppies in her littler so the shih tzu rescue saved her. She came from a mill in Michigan and the rescue was in PA..She flew on a plane to get here. When she arrived she never was on grass, rarely barked, didnt know how to play or interact with people and could not jump. With alot of love; we gave her the best years of her life and we can only hope she forgot all about that horrible place. She was with us 10 years and died a few years ago, but my heart still breaks from missing her and thinking of what she went through the first years of her life. She could never jump up on anything since she was cages for so many years and her leg muscles never developed fully and as Maggie got older she had trouble with steps. At the end we had to carry her most of the times. Also she had poor teeth and gums from not being properly treated. She was the sweetest most loving dog though. It's just terrible how they treat those poor animals and i am glad there are people and places that help save them. I am just so grateful that we had Maggie in our lives for so long.
