I do not worry about potential exposure to parasites. They are dogs, they eat meat, they play outside and they are predators. Heck they eat poop recreationally. If I see evidence of tapes I'll get them treated. Fear of parasites is not a reason I would stop my dogs from being dogs - that is, from chasing, catching and eating critters.

    Heck I eat sushi.

I agree, but it might be a good reason to deworm proactively - especially if you have small children.

When I had an outside cat - she spent most of her time in the woods - I did worm proactively because she was out there hunting and eating critters. I talked to the vet about it and she got wormed twice a year.  I could only speculate that I would worm proactively if I had kids because I don' t have kids.  I don't worm the dogs proactively - heartguard has some efficacy against a couple of worm types, and I do anual fecals. Interestingly enough they've thus far always come back negative.

And, remember, we humans carry that stuff with us; Kobi's long forgotten it by now!

There is nothing more true about it than that [:D]
