LOVE YOUR PET DAY

    LOVE YOUR PET DAY

I read that it is Love your Pet Day.  For me, it is a great day to celebrate.

What is it about your pet or pets that make this a day to celebrate?  How do they make your life better?

My pets make me a better person.  They give me unconditional love.  When I feel nobody else cares, I know I can hug my pets and they will "hug" me back.  They make me laugh and sometimes cry.  I am never alone--I have constant companionship.  They challenge me in so many ways, such as by doing the best I can for them and training them and teaching them.  I get exercise I probably wouldn't get without my dogs.  They are such a delight to watch the many things they do.  They have been there  when I've needed help during an illness.  The joy that is on their face when they catch onto something you want them to do is indescribable.

I love my pets everyday Big Smile

but...for this day, I will love them a little more, maybe get them an extra special treat today. I love my dogs so much, as you stated westiegirl they make me a better person also. They show me patience, and love me unconditionally and for that I love them. I love coming home from a days work, and having them greet me with their tails wagging uncontrollably. Even if it was a bad day, that always makes me smile, especially because when Teddi shakes his tail really hard, his whole body shakes too..hehe.

Yeah, I know what you mean about loving them everyday.  Mine are just like my family.  I really liked you replies.  I also love coming home from a really hard day at work and knowing that they will be there to let me know just how much they love me.  Sometimes I just like to sit on the floor and love them and hug them.  I love going for walks and watching them trying to find what may be hiding in the brush.  And then there is the temptation to stay in bed after waking up in the morning with their little warm, soft, and furry bodies laying next to me--also on a cold night.  There are just so many things that I can't even list them.  Not only are they patient with me, I have learned to be more patient myself.

Thanks alot for your reply, it helps to highlight reasons I can celebrate my dogs.

I love my dogs more than I love some of my own family!!!! Stick out tongue They are like children to me and always will be. I am going thru "empty nest syndrome" a little bit right now with my oldest daughter (23) in Virginia and leaving for Japan soon for 3-4 years and my 22 y.o. lives w/me, but is never home, so............ As you both said, they are always excited to see me when I come home with their little bodies wiggling in joy, puppy kisses all around. If I've had a bad day, they brighten it. I set my alarm 45 minutes early for snuggle time. Abbie isn't much of a snuggler, but Layla (the black & white Shih tzu in my avatar) loves to snuggle and even though she's almost 2, she still has that puppy quality. They adore me and I adore them. I went through some difficult times over the last year with my health, etc. and they were always there for me - even when I practically had to crawl to take them out to go potty and feed them and that's all I could do because I was so sick, but they were there for me and for that I am forever grateful. They are always on my mind and I miss them terribly when I'm at work or away and can't take them with me. I can't imagine a day without them in my life!!!!! Smile

Aww, such a sweet story.  My kids are also grown, but I do get to see them quite a bit.  I watch my grandchildren a pretty good bit also.  My pups are like my children now.  They brighten up my day so very much.  I had one Westie that helped me through a very trying time with health problems.  I honestly am not sure I could have made it without her.  She passed away about two years ago.  She was only two.  It has been so hard not having her with me, but I think God gave her to me for the very special purpose she served.  She will always be a part of my heart and I will always love her.  It took two Westies to replace her, but they are so special to me now.  I just love them so very much along with my two other dogs.  It was good to hear about your special dogs and I understand why they are so very special to you!

Oh, heck, I've been doing this all wrong my whole life. I've loved my pets everyday of the year.  LOL

Haha, hehe, I must have been doing this all wrong my whole life, as I love my dogs everyday and every minute of the year LOL.

The purpose of this post was not to say we love our dogs only one day of the year.  It was to take a day (that was chosen by I don't know who)  to honor our dogs and to tell just why we do love them every day of the year. I know that was what I wanted to do--to let others see why they are so very spcecial and and to see how they add so very much to my life.  I know there are so many stories about all of the great dogs out there.  Some would rather give snide remarks.  But my dogs and everybody that knows me knows just how very much I love my dogs everyday of the year--some would say that I love them too much.

I'm sorry if you mis-understood my reply.  I knew why you posted that, I was in a goofy mood last night is all.  Meetings after work will do that to me.  :)
