    Incredible

I could not believe what awaited me when I came home from school today. My pup stayes in the kitchen closed off by a baby gate when no one is home to watch her. My fiance and I realized a few days ago that she was able to get out of it by CLIMBING on top of her kennel (which we kept right next to the gate) and jumping to the other side of the gate. That was smart enough to get a good laugh out of us. Today, before he left for work, Chris moved the kennel about 3 ft away from the gate so she couldn't jump over the gate from the top of it.

Well, when I opened the door this afternoon, I'm greeted by the Schmee wagging her tail and running around loose in the house. I check that he remembered to close the gate...yep closed. And then I step into the kitchen...what a mess! Two of the shelves in the pantry (at the far end of our kitchen) had fallen! There was broken glass (eep!) and dishwashing detergent (eep!) all over the floor (among other, less dangerous things, like plastic measuring cups). My best guess, is that the shelves fell, and Schmee, my 17 lb. puppy, PUSHED her kennel the three feet to get next to the baby gate, climbed on top of it, and jumped into the rest of the house to get away from the mess!

    What a dog!

boy they do come up with some suprises, don't they????

next you'll have to put those "baby latches" on the cabinets so she can't open them!

Been there, done that. She managed to shred the box the saran wrap goes in as well as the box that the plastic baggies go in. I couldn't believe it! But I'm glad she got away from the glass and mess.

Oh, I'll bet she scaled those shelves to set up that whole getaway scheme!  She's guilty of it all I tell ya!  (Are there any footprints in that detergent)??

What a stinkbutt!  Cute story though.

Thank goodness, no footprints in the detergent. I was so worried she had eaten some of it, or gotten glass in her foot. But I checked her all out, and she fine. I'll be keeping an eye on her for any changes in behavior, tho.

I'm glad that Schmee is okay.  Your story reminded me of when my heart dog was a pup.  We built a nice little yard for her to stay in while we were @ work.  Lucy had figured out how to get out.  She climbed a 6-foot stockade fence & jumped in an open window.  She was inside the house when we got home.  How could we possibly be mad @ her?  All she wanted was to be inside.  [:)]
