Question about Photo Bucket

    Good job, and nice pic!!!

Another trick I discovered a couple of weeks ago - when you're adding the picture to your post (clicking the little picture of a tree icon), there's a place that says "dimensions." You can resize your photo there, too - if you want to keep it balanced (as in, not stretchy or weird-looking) you can just adjust the numbers in the first blank and leave the second one empty and the program will automatically balance it for you. (E.g. [800] x [     ])

Thanks for the idea, I'll have to give that a try too.  I did notice it, but wasn't sure what number to put in and all that good stuff.  But thanks, maybe that way I don't have to resize all the pics I can just do it here under the tree.  That sounds funny!

okay it looks like you are puting the URL to a THUMBNAIL or thumbnail sized version of your pic. Are you clicking on the pic itself in your gallery...not just grabbing the direct link from the front page where all the pics are displayed as thumb's?

What I did was I went to my photo album...all the pictures I downloaded there were there, I went to the direct link, copied it, came back here, went to the tree, pasted it where it said URL and hit insert.  Our pictures are high resolution (that's what my husband tells me, lol), so since they looked so big...I went back to photobucket, tried changing the size of the picture there, where it gave you options, email, thumbnail, avatar, etc.  That didn't work, the pictures were still huge as you can see.  So then I went and worked on it on my computer, compressed it, and then downloaded that pic on my photobucket and that's how I got the smaller one.  Does this make sense?

Here's a picture I tried with your method!  It worked much easier!  LOL  Although, my DH just came home and said he was impressed, and that I did a good job.  Then he had his suggestions...oh, well, but this is actually better.  I think now, I'm going to download a bunch more pictures on photobucket.  This is going to be fun!  LOL

I know your all going "on no! now she's going to be sending every picture she took!"  LOL

What a great picture - Misty is a doll!

I've found picture posting here a totally ponderous process compared to other boards. I've always just copied and pasted the Url link under my pictures in photobucket, but on this board if they are too big the right side of the photo gets cut off. And "too big" here is MUCH smaller than I usually post other places, so I have to tinker with every single picture I post on idog, a total PITA! On other boards if a picture is on the large size you simply have to scroll to see it all.

Thank you!  I see you use the PITA phrase too, that's one of my favorite!  Yeah, when I first posted, they were off to the side, but when I was posting, you actually saw the picture fine, but then my DH pointed out that it was because once you posted, my picture of me & Misty was on the left hand side, using up some of the space...DUH, yea, I guess that would make a difference.  lol  I'm just glad I can post pics now.  Now I need to have those pretty pics, I see everyone has with their dogs at the bottom (signatures??) like yours.  I think I'll have to ask someone to do that for me, I don't know if I have it in me to go that far.  Wink

Gawd I hate scrolling to see a pic. I'd rather it be cut off and the person repost it a normal size lol. It makes the text spread out, and all the posts below it are also then all scroll worthy etc....yuk.

I agree, I hate getting some e-mails that have these pics.  I like to be able to see it all at once.

I know what you're saying, but what's different about this board is that the white area where posts are only takes up a little over half of my screen, no matter how big I make my browser window. I have a 20" (diagonal) screen and if I make my browser as large as it can be so it takes up the entire screen, posts take up 9" of the width, with 3" of gray nothing on the left and 4" of gray nothing on the right.

I have thousands of pictures in photobucket that have already been resized to fit just fine on my screen, and also my smaller work screen, without having to scroll to see the whole picture. It's just due to the configuration of this particular board and all that wasted space that they don't fit properly without resizing them again when I post them here, not that they are so huge.

It wouldn't be so bad, except when I use the insert/edit button they appear to fit in the window just fine, but them I go to preview and it only shows the left 2/3 or so. So I have to go back and resize them and preview again. And usually they're still too big so I have to do it again. For every single picture! Ponderous.... Stick out tongue

Janet, someone made my siggie for me, (Benedict I think?), I have no idea how to do that sort of thing either! There was thread on here somewhere where several people had volunteered to make siggies for people - I'm sure you could find a talented, generous person willing to help you. Wink
