How do you know when your dog hasn't had enough exercise?

Hmm... my dogs seem to be the exception here.  Inside they lay around.  They get up and move to a cooler spot once their spot has warmed up too much but they don't get rowdy in the house ever.  If they need to go out to pee they will stand by the door and stare at me, but only if they really need to go out.  That rarely happens as I take them out on a pretty good schedule.

The only thing that happens ever is when we do go out for a pee.  If he hasn't had enough exercise for the day, he will 'attack' Onyx on their leashes.  He'll grab her buy the rough and drag her around.  She doesn't complain and as soon as she can, she fights back.  It annoys me kinda cause I usually get tangled in leashes.  But hey, that's my own fault right?

Their only indoor rough housing takes place while both lay on the floor and bang mouths at each other.  Mouths wide open, just swinging heads back and forth.  No noise, nothing.  Once in a while, Onyx will flip on her back and paw at him, but they don't stand up.

    My dogs are weird.

I don't think so - it sounds wonderful.

Bugsy is pushy and HIGH energy but he has long periods of nothingness after his morning activity, then after his afternoon/early evening activity.  His pushiness only occurs at those times.

I certainly don't have to wonder with Sequoyah - Aussies never get enough exercise. Smile  She's always wanting to know "what's next, mom?'

I will add though, that my dogs are both up for exercise anytime.  Even if we have just gotten back from a long day on the ice, they will come in for a drink, but if I take them back out and ask them to run some more, they happily oblige.  It really is not often at all that either of them refuse to move.  The first time I took Crusher out on the bike was probably the only time I've ever seen him just quit.  And that was because(I think) for the first part he refused to run on the grass...so his feet were probably sore.

Indoors, when Dodger doesn't get enough exercise he becomes a velcro dog (which is totally against his nature).

When we are actually hiking and I wanna come home at the 2 or 3 hour mark, he tries to disappear into the creek or corn fields to delay the inevitable LOL...

Lizzy will chase the cats and jump in my lap when I'm sitting down.  sometimes she will run back and forth from her leash to the door.  once when I was sick I couldn't walk her for 3 days but she stayed pretty calm. she must have realized I wasn't feeling well.
