Lol, don't you love when they try tricks they know?
I trained my beagle to beg by luring her into the position. So now I also have a hand signal for it by taking my first two fingers and thumb and pulling them up into the air for it.
My pointer will copy me, so I just acted as close as I could to a dog begging. And she got it almost immediately. She's such a dork though, when she waves, she begs and lifts up one of her paws. [8|]
For training speak both my dogs figured it out the same way, which is pretty rare for them. I'd say, "Casey, speak, woof! Woof!" Once she got it when I'd say speak woof, I'd start decreasing the amout of times I had to say woof and now she gets it. By doing this I've also been able to teach my beagle, Carley, to howl, whisper, and I'm working on yelping. It's pretty fun to work with her vocalization since she mimics my sounds.
