The War on Terror is being waged in our yard...

That is the best picture...I love it!!!

See what my dogs miss out on living in a condo with no yard!! [8D]

Oh bring those greys over here and I'll take 'em on a walk with my two.  You want Osquirrel bin Laden?  I've got him and Osama squirel-zawki both with dozens of followers.  But they're winning the war to prevent me from having a peaceful walk.  One of these days the leash will break and then I'll be looking for my reward!  Especially since those pesky tree hugging rodentia have been getting quite fat!

We don't have squirrel cells, but we do have mice cells, which are trying to infiltrate the house. Unfortunately, our intelligence is poor here, as the dogs don't seem to be getting the message that the mice are literally on the threshold of the back door . . .they step right over mouse poop without even sniffing! Odorless poop, what will the axis of evil think of next!

So have I ever mentioned that I live adjacent to a neighborhood called Squirrell Hill? Sometimes, just sometimes, the notion dawns on me that owning a coonhound and living in Squirrell Hill was probably not one of my smartest moves.

OK, NOW I can see the picture--this is sooo like Gypsy I can't believe it.  I have been seen, holding her six foot leash with her UP in the tree, straining madly at the end of her leash trying to figure out just how much higher she can get so those squirrels will be history.  Yes, the funny lady in Newberg gets hysterical laughter drifting at her from passing cars...[8|]

We have many active Squirrel cells here - Pofi keeps careful tabs on all of them. Lots of giant Cottonwood trees in the neighborhood which make for excellent Squirrel playgrounds. Po watches them very intently in our own yard.

When he was still just a pup of maybe 6 or 7 months I was walking him and there were squirrels running round a Cottonwood up ahead. He was completely tuned in as we approached, but they had disappeared (at least to my senses).  As we passed the tree, Pofi made a lightning quick leap and pulled one poor critter off the tree by the leg - all three of us were quite shocked.  Po was so startled that he dropped the squirrel and I was trying to reign him back when he caught him again and I said either drop it or leave it and he did and the poor thing limped across the street.  We watched and it did climb a tree, but was holding that back leg out at a funny angle...

A week later we were walking down the same street and a poor Squirrel froze in terror at the sight of us approaching the same Cottonwood tree and it's back leg was sticking straight out!  I carefully steered Pofi far around this time!

Well, our mouse cell is minus one operative. However, Gracie was caught desecrating the body this morning. In her defense, a toy mouse and a dead mouse look an awful lot alike! However since she doesn't currently have a toy mouse, I knew the thing she was tossing up in the air with such abandon, and then rolling on top of, was not a toy. As my five year old put it "Ewwww!"
