dog toys?

    dog toys?

Hmm, this might be a goofy question, but anyway, is there any other dog toy that will challenge a dog, other than a kong? Maggie doesnt seem to like her kong at all, as she will lick the top and not bother to get the rest out, so I was wondering if there's any other toy out there that anyone has that their dogs like to play with? She completely destroys all her stuffed toys that I buy her after 20 minutes....

    thanks!

Busy Buddy makes some good toys that make dogs work for treats/food and they keep my dog engaged far longer than Kongs. I especially like the Twist & Treat. Then there are those Hide-a-Squirrel/Bee/Bird toys, although they're soft. My mom has this neat toy for her dogs that's a big wooden square with movable pieces that the dogs have to shift to uncover treats hidden below. It's German and I've never seen it in the US, but maybe someone else knows what I'm talking about.

Bamboo makes super durable canvas with soft rubber enforcement under the canvas plus dog toys. http://www.bamboopet.com/dogs/toys/

Joey isn't a toy destroyer.  He likes small tennis balls the best.

Honestly I thing that for some dogs destroying the toy is playing and they won't play with a toy if they can't destroy it.

If you look where it says Dogs (on the right) there are many other kong products, besides the classic kong.

As for other toys, try [linkhttp://www.dog.com]www.dog.com[/link], of course!  Or else maybe [linkhttp://www.dogtoys.com/]http://www.dogtoys.com/[/link].  I usually use kong, so I can't recommend anything else off the top of my head.  You can also try rawhides or these, they are rawhides with jerky in them so dogs will be more interested in it.

I don't know what happened to my font in the last post.  I did this on purpose, though!

For the moment I am keeping empty soda/water bottles in the 16 oz size. I clean them out strip the plastic off if there is any and then dry them. After they are dry I will fill it with some treats or kibble and hand it to the boy. I make sure he see's me filling it too.

Lasts about 15 min or so and sounds like my kitchen is being wrecked, but it is so funny to watch him try and figure out how to get the food out. He uses any means possible to work it. It is even more entertaining the second time around, because it has been, smashed, bashed, crushed and chewed to death. Takes him a bit longer.

Yesterday he was literally spinning the dang thing with his paws to shoot the food out. Cheap and easy.

I have a little tube that has a tennis ball stuck in it that's made by Petstages and I got at Petsmart.  I don't suggest a Busy Buddy Twist and Treat.  My beagle, who's usually a lighter chewer (but extremely food motivated) has torn pieces off of it from the second I gave her it.  Perhaps you'll have bettter luck though.  I also like the Buster Cube and the treat balls (I got one for $6 from Wal-Mart)

    Have you tried rawhide?

Yes and she doesn't care for it too much...she chews on it for oh, 5 min. or so and thats it

Yeah.  That's how Riley is.  But then eventually, about 6 months later, he'll eat it.  That's why I'm thinking of trying that Dingo brand I told you about before.

What kind of dog do you have?  What types of things are she interested in?  Do you want a toy to keep her busy while you are gone, or one that you can use to play with her?
