Opinions on traveling with dogs

That's a fold down crate, the heavy-duty type, but I don't like to use them because they are a) unsafe and b) heavy as snot.

Why are they unsafe?  This is what I have been using, as in the photos above.

And I'm not sure that my 14" dog could jump 36".  Maybe, but not so sure about that.....

My BF is against the idea of 4 crates.  He thinks I should stick with the two larger crates with 2 dogs per crate....  he would prefer a barrier because it wouldn't rattle but I'm hoping to eliminate the rattle soon by finding the spots that do and taping them.  heh...  Always trying to be conciliatory and still get my way.

All four of my dogs travel in pop-up crates.  They are fabric and fold down into small bags when not in use.  I have a boxer, dobie, aussie mix, and a dachshund and they all fit into my trailblazer.  I probably wouldn't use these crates if my dogs weren't reliably crate trained, as they are flimsy and could probably tear easily if the dog dug at it.
