I just heard the craziest thing

I was referring to PEOPLE aggression. Dog aggression is a different story and can often appear in mature dogs ... and in more than the bullies too.

I understood what you meant.. I was just further clarifying what I wrote about change in temperament in regards to age in pitties, wasn't necessarily replying to your post.

I wasn't trying to imply that it would, Meilani.  The theory is obviously nonsensical, but the temperature of the brain does affect mental functioning, however subtlely or insignificantly.  Just trying to build bridges and help people understand where the above BS theory might have originated.

Maybe it happens if you make them think too much-lol. Trainers beware! Now, if you crop their ears does that act as a cooling system for the brain? Should I be folding Sally's ears back and gluing them to her head wne we do mentaling stimulating exercises? [sm=lol.gif]

    Christina,
Just don't ask her to do any long division or to find the square root of 6,890,324,765.  Now that would make my brain overheat.  LOL[:D]

I just really didnt get why someone who owned the breed would say something like that. I actually have a foster who I believe is part PB & it is absolutly the sweetest dog I have met!! There is no way I would go around telling people his brain could overheat & he could become agressive! I dont really know what vet that guy goes to but he should seriously think about switching to a new vet.

I also talked to a woman one day at the dog park who had bulldogs & she told me that her dog could only play for about a half an hour & she had to constantly keep him hydrated so he didnt overheat & have a heat stroke.

The one about the gunpowder is crazy too, I really dont know where people come up with all of these things. I have heard quite a few crazy things about dals too. I have a big problem with people who talk about how agressive deaf dogs are, it simply isnt true. Anyone who meets my Marley would also disagree, it is like the pit bull thing. It is due to irresponsible owners. I have yet to meet an agressive pit bull (who is well taken care of) and I have yet to meet an agressive deaf dog (who is well taken care of).

I am actually more drawn to the pit bulls in shelters because I guess they are the "underdogs". They are all so sweet & deserve a home as much as any other dog but because they are labeled "pit bull" most of the time they dont get it. People do believe most of the stuff they read/hear and that is really hurting this breed. And obviously uneducated owners (although I am sure this man takes very good care of his dog) are also hurting the breed. I personally love pitties and I would have no problem fostering or owning one.

I can personally attest to this one. One day when I came home from work there was a pack of firecrackers scattered about on the floor. Bailey (the Maltese) had eaten 7 or 8 of them. Not just chewed up, but completely consumed them.

How did he get the firecrackers? Jimmy the cat knocked them off of the counter in an attempt to commit doggiecide.

Oh yes, eating gunpowder didn't make Bailey any meaner than usual. [:D]
