Hello everyone, what a lovely spot I found here. My doggie's name is Dave. He is a chow-akida mix. 13 years old, bad hips, I have him on Rimadyl. He has ramps to go outside. He is still able to do that, but no walks. He is past that point.
I keep him comfortable and spend long long periods of time on the floor just being near him. One night I slept on the floor with him, recently. I was concerned he would follow me into the bedroom to be there, and I didn't want him trying that night. I love my boy. We have lived in a total of 17 different apartments/houses together. He has been with me since an old roommate of mine sprung him from the pound as a surprise for me.
So I am doing all I can for him, but I have a concern. He recently lost his bark. He became hoarse, and then it was gone. I feel so bad when he tries, and I wonder if this could be due to something that I could get treated? He has the mucus in his eye corners too, and I don't know, is that just age, you guys? Is there something that could help him get his bark back? Sort of a "dignity" thing for him, I think. He still looks at me when he tries to bark like he doesn't get why there's no sound.
Any thoughts, anyone? Thank you. Love to your dogs!!!
