Earlier tonight, we took Max out for about 45 minutes, 15 minutes or so of that was running around on playground equipment. He was up the different types of stairs, down a few slides (and back up some of them), and he even walked across the wobbling platforms a few times, which required a lot of effort on his part. 45 minutes later he was ready to go out again, nevermind that I was not.
That got me thinking of why I like the winter so much more than summer. In the summer, if I walk Max for a half hour, he comes in and gets his drink, lays on the floor, and in a half hour, he's ready to go again. In the winter time, if we go out for 15 minutes in snow up to his belly, we come back in and he's tired for the next 2-3 hours. If I wanted him tired that long now, it would require another young dog for him to play with for some time, a long walk, and some walking in the water, as he does not swim. If I want any more than that, he's gotta spend the day at day care.
