    World's best cat litter users...

I was using Swheat scoop with much success and like the organic/ safe litters. I was looking into trying World's Best cat litter when I stumbled upon a forum and posts of people who use chicken laying crumbles (which is corn also) rather than WBCL with the same results at a fraction of the cost.  I thought if this really works....I can handle $9.50 for 50lbs. Heck yeah.

I went to the feed store and picked up a bag.  When I poured it out (3 cats 2 boxes) it looks just like Swheat Scoop and probably WB also (I've never seen that one).  It has a distinct odor that although not overpowering, it is a bit unpleasant right out of the bag....not bad though (for the price, definitely tolerable) I just sprinkled in some baking soda... no problem. The boxes are in the basement.
The cats took to it right away.  They are used to the similar texture.
It's been a couple days and it "behaves" just like the wheat based litter and I'm so far pleased in it's clumping ability and odor control.  It's scoopable and there's no odor.
I'll give it more time, but if this stuff is nothing more that vitamin laced corn litter,  I've hit a gold mine.  at $9.50 for 50lbs, I will never buy the expensive litters ever again!  [sm=clapping%20hands%20smiley.gif]

Interesting - we use WBL and are mighty pleased with it. I suppose I'd have to get out of the city andto a feed store to find this stuff?

    Love your handsome dogs, btw.

Yeah, the feed stores are where it's at. [;)]
    Thanks for the compliment...[sm=proud.gif]

This is interesting...I use a clay clumping cat litter.  What is the difference with the wheat kind?  I may have to try this chicken crumble stuff.  Feed stores are easily accessible to me.

The wheat (Swheat scoop) kind I really like alot but sometimes the clumps stuck like cement on the bottom..I scoop every day or every other day.  The longer it sat the harder it was.  I thought I'd give the chicken crumbles a shot.  I still like it.  It clumps well.  I can't believe the money I'll be saving.  Some say they use rice hulls for litter too...I haven't tried that yet. [sm=proud.gif]   The odor control is every bit as good as the World's best or  Swheat scoop also.

one of our siamese rescue fosters uses that too. He pays about $9 for 50#. I haven't cause I have a slight mouse problems and I don't know if I could store that much w/out inviting rodents in. But he swears by the stuff

I was worried about some claims of moths or bugs in the corn, but I have yet to see anything in the stuff.  I have a rubbermaid trash container for the bag if it draws the mice in, but so far so good...
I initially thought I wasn't going to be able to use it because one of my cats took a liking to it and tasted it.."Oh, great he's going to eat it!"  After the first deposit though,  he found it less than palatable...lol
I am more than pleased with this stuff.

Hmmm... I'm going to try this stuff, too! If I can find it around here, and if it works good, I'll buy a couple bags for the local shelter. They're asking for Kitty Litter donations right now.

I still love it...it tracks less than the Sweat scoop. I just sweep the basement floor around the boxes after each scoop anyhow, so it's no big deal for me.
It scoops so well and better than some!  Yup, I'm sold. My place smells so good and "catless" not like that perfumey clay mixed with urine scent...uggh.

The shelter is a fantastic idea.  It's soo much more affordable. That it's doable.

Let me know how you like it...hope you're as pleased as I am.
I use the high sided tupperware storage boxes and fill about 3" per box...they can't kick it out. Low sided boxes may get messy because this stuff is nice and light.

I tried it! While I'm disappointed with the clumping, the wet spots still scoop out easily and odor control is great. I love the fact that there is no dust. The clay clumping litter always sent up a cloud of dust when I sifted it. The cats weren't impressed at first. There was a "present" outside the box the first day. But they've been fine since. Overall, I'm happy with it - and at $7.99 for 50 pounds I can easily overlook the occasionally poor clumping.

I know what you mean about the clumping, but the clumps come out so easy that if I see a wet clump looking like it's going to separate, I just toss the scoopful. (at $9.00 I can waste a little bit [sm=proud.gif]) it doesn't happen all that often to me.   It's MUCH healthier for your cat (and dogs if they visit the box for snacks [sm=eek.gif]).  I've found the box stays nice and clean and dry too and doesn't stain like some clumping litters can do.

I'm glad I was able to save ya some money and convert you! [sm=clapping%20hands%20smiley.gif]

Wow, what a fantastic idea!  I'm going to give this a try as soon as I'm able; thank you!

    Thats def something to try.

We just recently got a new litter box (the automatic one) for our cats the [linkhttp://www.kittiefind.com/forums/feline_retail/automatic_litter_boxes-t28.0.html]Scoup free which has the Fresh Step crystals[/link] which last and make the room smell a lot more better. But I mean this also goes to show it works best I would say with the automatic box which does the job every 20 minutes or so.

i use litter that is made from pine. It is very similar in looks to the wheat kind of litters but whenever my cat uses it it smells like christmas pine throughout the house. I just love it. you dont have to clean it out as frequently as normal litter either.

I might try that once we are getting low on litter especially that price I got to give it a try.
