Litter Training a Kitten

My friend got a kitten, and the first day he had it at his house, the kitten when straight to the litter box to go the bathroom, never had an accident :)

Well Pofi its been a week since we starting using the World Best Litter and I love it.  I have noticed a big difference with the odor in my sons room.  There is basically none. YAY   I can't stand spraying odor sprays they clog my nose up and I haven't had to spray his room and I noticed he hasn't sprayed it either.    I also have flushed the waste with no apparant problems so far.  I am real careful about how much I flush and flush a couple times during the scooping. Now the bag says it will last a month for one cat.  I bought the 7 lb. bag.  We'll see.

World's Best Cat Litter bombed with Trixie yesterday.  She hated Feline Pine (but I did, too, really), and now she hates WBCL.  She sniffed it and hopped out.  I had to completely change it back to Fresh Step before she'd use it again.  Luckily, I anticipated this and saved the Fresh Step in its bag and just switched it back.

I have a nearly full bag of WBCL now ... [&:]

Roxie, I did have one cat hesitate and seem not sure of it, too.  I have multiple boxes as I have multiple cats and gave it some time before I had witnessed Iggy using it and then switched over all the other boxes.

Cats definitely can be very finicky and not like that sort of change, but it completely ended Iggy's asthma, so for us it was well worth it.

You definitely have to pay attention to kitty though - I have also changed litters in the past more gradually.  Starting with a mix of WBCL and Fresh Step might work if you really want to use it.....gradually increase WBCL - as you scoop use only it to replace?

Most important thing, of course, is that kitty will use it!

Luv my Jakey - so glad it is working for your situation.  I think in conventional boxes it does last longer - in the LitterMaid, the auto rake probably pushes along more clean litter then I would like, but that's ok.  I truly do think it has FAR superior odor control to anything else I've ever used and as Iggy also has hypertension which lead to seizures, I really try to avoid sprays because scent can so often trigger seizures.  And my nose doesn't really care for them either!!

As I've learned, Trixie's very stubborn with her litter preferences.  My previous cats didn't care what the litter was, just as long as they had a place to go.  Even if I mix Fresh Step with the WBCL or the Feline Pine, she would realize what I'd done and refuse to use it.  So ... I'm stuck with a great litter that cannot be flushed down the toilet.  [&:]
