We use feline pine.I had switched but my daughter complained that it smelled more (she is in charge of litter box duty) so we switched back to the feline pine.

I just bought a bag of Feline Pine tonight.  As recommended on the bag, I poured an inch into the litter box and covered it with Fresh Step.

One big reason is ... being lazy.  I hate having to put the clumps into a separate little Wal*Mart bag every day; it'd be easier to flush it, which is possible with the Feline Pine.  Also, I read on here about kittens not being able to pass clumping litter.  That stuff freaks me out.

Trixie (the kitten) seems okay with the switch ...

I use the Walmart Special kitty brand.
Tried pine litter once - maybe it's NH mice but mice loved the stuff!!!
Mice would chew through the trash bags, in my garage prior to dump day, on every trash bag that had litter in it (we have a septic so I don't flush any litter).
I never figured out what it was about the pine litter that attracted mice but once I stopped using it mice stopped tearing into my trash.
I used to use clay Fresh Step but I found during the humid summers (NH is trying into the tropics in July) the litter wouldn't dry out and within a day the house reeked of cat pee and I HATE that.
The WalMart clumping is pretty good and the price is right.
I buy a jug every week with my crew and foster cats. I have to scrub with bleach every other week and do a complete refill. I know some people who go a month between scrub/refills but I don't like to wait that long.
