Cool Debbie, do you still ride?

I haven't for a while Danehaven. Since I moved to Nebraska, I haven't had a lot of opportunity to, but Sharon has Arabs that are broke to ride, and I love them too.

Bet you guys didn't know I was into horses huh? LOL! If you guys have some good head shots of your horses, I would sooooooo love to paint some. I would LOVE to paint Barbaro but don't want to get nailed for a copyright infringement.

Spend time with the Wellman's and they embed themselves into your heart!  I just told someone today, when they brought my 3 we went to the Memphis zoo and Susan was doing sign language with the Orangutan!  She's a special ed teacher and on and on...  Let's see if I've got pics....

Debbie you are such an interesting person. I hope we get to meet someday. [sm=beret.gif]
Hubby is getting a new camera so I will pass along your request for head shots. Anything else as long as he will be driving me nuts with the new toy? [sm=crazy.gif]

Carmy's mom- Welcome, I'm glad you are here. [:)]

I know those horses. [:)] I remember them when they were on the website. And I recognize you from the horse forum.  I'm over there too on the same name [:)]

Debbie, I wish I had some pictures for you, but I don't [&:] That's neat you could paint them, hope someone can get you some nice ones! (My horse doesn't have the prettiest head, but I love her anyway [;)])

LOL Danehaven! Just thank your stars that his toy is just a camera. When the S/O gets a new toy, it's usually 1,000 hp and needs a parachute to stop it on the drag racing track. I'll be painting in my studio and he'll light one of the race cars up and scare me, then I have to work to fix the inadvertant brush stroke on the painting!

Danes, Danes and more Danes! I'm always up for photos of Danes, I love to paint them. Dane puppies are a special request. Look in photos for sharing to see what I'm up to right now. A friend of mine, who is a GENIUS with a sewing machine, and I have formed a partnership - she makes these gorgeous pillow covers and I paint portraits on them. I'm going to be in Lexington Kentucky this year for the Saluki National, and we will be camped at the Kentucky Horse Park. The Arab National (I think that's what it is) will be there in conjunction and the last time I went, I didn't even think to take photos of the Arabs. There were so many beautiful Arabs. I drove around and looked at some of the horse farms, but a tornado had just gone through the area and knocked a bunch of fences and trees down, so I didn't get to see very many Thoroughbreds. Maybe this year, and camera in hand. I will definitely be back at the museum - that is a really cool place. I'll have a booth all week at the National, and I would love to have some horse stuff, since a lot of the horse people come over to watch the Salukis show. I'll probably get a lot of commissions from the horse people, which would be just fine with me!

Debbie, Ha Ha I know what you mean about the BIG toys. Hubby restores vintage tractors. When we left MN he had to go down from 12 to 4. Now he is up to 8? I'd have to go count. I try to ignore them as much as I can. I really don't like it when I'm riding and he starts backfiring one. [sm=angry.gif] Luckily the horses are pretty well desensitized.

I looked at the pillows they are really great! PM me an email addy to send the photos and I'll see what we can do. Or do you need hard copies? You are welcome to use any DaneHaven pics you see posted.

Here is a link to the DaneHaven boys pics over on the horse board.

My favorite was a 15.3 black bay mare named Kiwi. She loved my dogs and I even handled my Setters in field trials off of her.

I forgot to mention that last week I had Oakley (our male Golden) with me when I went to see Lucky.  I asked Oakley to put his paws up on the blanket bar of Lucky's stall and he and Lucky were pretty much nose-to-nose.  I loved that!  Lucky seemed to be very interested in Oakley.  All the horses had their heads poking out of their stalls actually, watching the small hairy Golden colored animal...me yelling "leave it" and "drop it" when he picked up horsie poopsicles.  There is a barn cat that Lucky bumps around with his nose and pushes along...they seem to get along with each other, no problem...the cat walks up on the edges of his stall while I'm working on him.

That sounds pretty darn cool actually! I love old tractors.  We don't even own 1 tractor, yet.  YET...yes, that be the key the word.

One of the rescues I massage is a Standardbred gelding and he makes some of the goofiest faces and does hilarious things with this tongue..flipping it around all over the place.

I haven't done much with Standardbreds, but I used to work with an Arabian stallion who was a total goofball. He liked to have his gums massaged, and his tongue scratched. When I'd come up he'd plop his tongue out for me to tickle. He was the neatest horse, and I miss him so much!

That's soooo awesome! [:)]  I bet he's a handsome bugger, too!  There's a jet black stallion here at the rescue and he just blinks his beautiful eyes at everybody.
