Chipmunks?

Glenda, the central valley is looking at 106 or 107 today (with little or no humidity) and everything south of the Grapevine is going up in flames. Kinda makes me wonder why so many people keep moving here. [:D]

The only experience I have with Chipmunks are the ones that Cooper hunts for whenever we go out into the backyard now.  There seem to be a family of them living under/around the neighbors shed which is very close to our fence...he checks that whole corner of fence as well as the pile of leftover pavers a downspout and his pool everytime we go out the back door.  Unfortunately he did catch one one morning as I was working on taking the garbage out.  Not sure how exactly he caught it, I just know that he was pawing it and picking it up in his mouth...He's excellent with DROP IT, but he kept looking at me like he knew LEAVE IT meant that I would be taking it away.  So he would drop it and then stand over it.  The whole thing was very funny until I had to dispose of the poor thing...it honestly looked like it had been scared to death.

Glenda, I hope none of yours catch this little guy...they aren't as cute when they're needing to be picked up and disposed of.  I had the willies even with three pairs of gloves, a garbage bag and a shovel.

Ah, Joyce, it's the lure of the central coast type weather!

So far so good on our little guy and the dogs....but they sure do like to bark at him!  He taunts the poor dogs something fierce!

Well Glenda, it looks like I spoke a little too soon about the lack of humidity.  It seems a huge chunk of what they call *monsoon moisture* is coming up from Southern CA so we're not only going to be very hot, we're going to be very sticky, too. Five day forecast showing temps of 105 - 107. [:@][:@]

Glenda, one summer, back in NY, it was almost draught conditions and we were all sitting on my parents deck, finishing up dinner, when a squirrel, slowly walked on the deck, not 3 feet from all of us, and went up one of the posts to one of my mom's pots.  It then began to lick the salt off the pot.... craziest thing I ever saw.  We all just kept still and silent watching the fella.
