Cause of death?

And Heartgard does heart, hook and round worms, not tape or whip, so could be one of those two.  I use Interceptor and it does the above plus whip, so it doesn't even cover everything.

It could be something else but I'm betting on worms here.  Bailey could die from worms, so definitely get him in.  And make sure he has access to water all the time so he doesn't dehydrate from the diarrhea.

Sorry that bailey's not feeling so good.  I hope its something easily determined and fixed.  I also wanted to chime in that you might not want to have him vaccinated while he's sick.  It could throw his immune system out of whack.  If you can, wait on the vaccines.  Just to be safe.  Hope he's better soon!

Oh, okay. Well I'm just going to go by what the vet says, but I'll ask him about it. Thanx

Okay, just got back from the vet. We get the results from the test tomarrow, to see if he has worms. They took blood for his heartworm and lime testing, and he got his rabies and distemper shots. She said he wasn't that sick, so she could do them today. And he has to take these pills, one in the morning and one at night for 5 days.

tashakota- I looked at the info on heartguard and yeah I guess you're right. So what is the best kind of worm prevention? The best one I found on 1800petmeds ( thats where we get it from ) and Interceptor looks the best, so should I change to that one?

So how is Bailey feeling today?  And any word on those dead animals?  Have they been reported?  And did the vet say anything about them?

I don't know that any worm medicine does all worms, but since Interceptor covers one more than Heartgard, I would recommend switching.  Depends on what is really the problem with Bailey.  The vet didnt' do a float right then to test for worms?  Did you take a stool sample in?  Whenever I've suspected worms, I take in a sample and if it's an actual appointment, they do the float while I wait and come back with the results...

Yeah they took a sample, and they did a blood test, for heartworms and lime, not really because he was sick, they just do that once a year to check, espescialy because he's had heartworm before, and lime is everywhere here.Oh and we get the results today.
Okay well theres 2 HeartGuard things left so once he uses those the next time I ordered it I'll get Interceptor.

He seems a little better, he didn't get up last night, which he has been doing for 4 days, so thats good. And he is eating today so it seems like hes getting better. I'm not going to bring him to work (dog daycare) with me for a while though, at least till next week probably. & thanks for all the help tashakota & everyone else for all the info they gave, Bailey says thanxxxxxxxx[:)]

To answer your question about the Interceptor, if Bailey has any herding breed in his background it's probably safer to give him that than Heartguard.  Some dogs, mostly collies, have a gene that makes them have an adverse reaction to Ivermectin, the active ingredient in Heartguard.
