I don't think I'd want a hybrid for myself, though they're fine for others. For me, a normal car will suffice. Plus, I've read about the hybrids not earning the huge MPG the automakers brag about.
My Accord has 150K, but I see no reason to get a newer car. Always starts and never has any problems. I'm looking forward to the new Accord in 2007; hopefully, it will have a better front end design. I love the LED lights in the back of the '06s and up, though.
I never would have admitted this years ago, but I'd definitely give the Sonata or Elantra a try before looking at an Accord or Civic. They've come a long way. And with the lower price, excellent
standard safety features, and huge warranty, they're worth a look in my book.
My aunt bought a Hyundai Tucson last year. She loves its smooth ride and the standard safety features. Plus, the price was great. It's been trouble-free, too.
