Kate, I am sorry to hear you may lose the only thing that provides you any relief.  Keeping fingers and toes crossed that your Dr is wrong and things will turn out better than you expect. 
 
I have a girlfriend that went through months of test due to abdominal pain and bloating and saw specialist after specialist.  After multiple scares of the being diagnosed with the big "C" she found out she had some 3rd world infection that affects the outer lining of your stomach - took so long to diagnose because the doctors in the states never see it! LOL now.  Several months worth of antibiotics adn it is cleared up.  We think she acquired it after cleaning her 20 yo son's kitchen when she saw the filth!  So - here's hoping it is some oddity that is easily cured!  It happens so don't get too discouraged! 
 
When you need a pick-me-up just remember you have a bunch of people all over the world rooting and praying for you!

Aww Kate, I'm sorry to hear that you are going through this....I'm not sure if you've mentioned this in prior posts, but have they done CT Scans and MRI's to rule a possible clot in that area of the brain??? Neurological problems are incredibly frustrating, I hope all goes well for you...
 
This may or may not help you at all but....I work at a doctors office as a medical assistant/EKG tech and I'm studying to be a nurse....if there's anything I could do to help...even if it's just a helpful ear (or eye []) to listen, I'll be more than happy to do it. Thank you again everyone for all the vibes and especially the kind offers, which I will take you up on when I can think more clearly.  You are all wonderful people.
 
They have not yet ruled out seizures - the drugs I am on now are a specialised type of anti-convulsives.  They have ruled out a blood clot in my brain, though.
 
I will keep you all posted.  Next hurdle - getting blood drawn from my impossible veins.
