I've had colic, which isn't the same as a torsion, but when the duodenal valve decides to close and won't open, resulting in trapped gas in the stomach. Extremely painful. And caused mostly by stress, I must mention.
Stomach and intestinal torsions happen in dairy cows, too. They try to pack them into too closely together and they get stressed and their stomachs or intestines flip. In cows, years ago, they'd sew the stomach to the side of cow it was supposed to be on. (I kept sneaking into vet classes when I went to UC Davis.)
