Oh, and I do not feel unpatriotic for driving a Honda. It was built in Ohio. Besides, why should I deal with an unreliable domestic, just to feel patriotic? Doesn't make sense to me.
same here. most cars from american car companies are made elsewhere now or assembled in the u.s. from parts made elsewhere. most hondas sold in the u.s. are built in the u.s. i have been a honda guy since high school. 1st car was a honda crx ('85). got it in 87 and drove it until 97. it had 250k on it when the engine started to fail. it was tough to give taht car up, i loved it. now i am driving a 94 civic that i got in 97. it is around 117k. it needs some cosmetic work (new paint) and the ac doesnt work (which sucks in the summer in sc as it gets HAWT! here), but the motor is still tip top. cant seem to find enough reasons to replace it yet. and i do like to be without car payments, it has been paid off since 2000. but when i do get ready for a new car, i will definitely be at the honda dealership first.
as to the mechanic situation others have mentioned. finding a great mechanic is almost like finding a money tree. but once you find one you will always go back. have been using the same mechanic since the first crx. it is a pain driving to him now as he is about 35 miles away, but definitely worth it because if he says it needs to be replaced, then it DOES!
