We brought it to a great jeweler today to get resized. It's HUGE and my finger turns out to be a size 4 (!)... the shank is so thin that we're going to have the shank replaced in order to resize it. Aunt (who gave us the ring) said that this has been done once before and is what she recommends to resize - as did the jeweler - so the ring will be strong and durable.
It was really cool at the jewelers, the diamond expert (diamondologist?) let me look at it under the microscope and explained the cut ("Old European") and everything to me... she found little microscopic characteristics that I can look for in the future so I'll always be able to tell it's my diamond. She said that the style is really popular now and a lot of new rings are being styled to look similar to this original... pretty cool. [

] I never cared about jewelry before but I am really dorking out on this ring. [
