Just a quick forewarning . . . after you prune the roots, the plant may go into a state of shock and appear to be dying, or not doing well . . . this is because the plant has shifted its focus from growing the "top" to growing the "bottom" where you can't see. Its focusing its energy on regorwing the roots you just removed . . . new roots = better health! After you prune the roots, keep the soil moist, but not soggy, and don't add any fertilizer for at least a month.
